I hate being so out of touch with myself chronologically... right now, I feel psychologically prepared to get married and raise a family, while economically I shouldn't consider it for another 10-15 years...

That's what always gets to me... I want to find that one woman I can spend the rest of my life with, not some random dating crap (which is what valentines day really is... if you don't believe me, know that I've gotten valentine invitations from women who I knew for a fact were already taken)

What about sweetest day?

That one always seemed to come out of nowhere. All of a sudden everyone was getting flowers... I had to stop and think... "is this some sort of special day?" "it's everyone gets a flower day!" "where's my flower?"

Oh it's sweetest day! I would spend the rest of the day trying to create my own holiday to sell something on...

I had to post here just because of my avatar. I think my sentiments are evident.

Valentines day is an excuse for couples to be extra happy together and singles to take the jump.

Or an excuse to make people's lives miserable. Pretty sneaky, I'd say.

You guys are all looking at it negatively, especially you single guys.

Valentine Day is opportunity day. Do you know how many single women are depressed and lonely on Valentine Day, yet go out, whether with their other single friends, or just to go out and not be depressed.

This is the time to go out and find these girls, bars, clubs, wherever and strike while the iron is hot.

Tell them how stupid Valentine is, and I bet you they'll agree with you(only because they are lonely and single). This makes them feel like less of a loser when tell them Valentine for suckers.

I like GrantZilla's thinking here. ;)

Next year it's probably best to plan and kick off your campaign at least a couple of weeks before the day though.

It really doesn't bother me... it's not that big of a deal here, I think people are getting over it. It's just a corporate holiday, and I doubt if it has any real meaning to anyone.

Where is here?

In a lot of countires it is truly vomit inducing :)

If you have a female partner you had better get the day right or you could be in real trouble. ;)

If you don't have a partner it can be a pretty depressing day.

Businesses will pull every trick in the book to part you from your money. Including encouraging you to find a partner by the 14th so that you have a reason to spend the cash.

Holidays are all about boosting the ecomony and making money.

I don't mind the day itself. It's just a nice excuse to do something with your partner. (Yeah, I know if I was single I would probably have a different point of view
What I hate about Valentine's Day is all those stupid decorations (pink and hearts everywhere - eek!), making people spend money on useless things and making single people feel obliged to find a partner.

Last Valentines Day was the only time I've ever been in a relationship on Valentines Day. We ended up having a big fight.

*bows down and kisses the danish soil*
"The rain, the goverment, and even Bornholm, all that I can forgive you. AS LONG as you don't have Valentines day"
I always found holidays strange. Shouldn't you show love all year? Why waite for christmas/birthday/valenties before showing someone what they meen to you?
Plus, why put pressure on the ones who are shy, or just don't have anyone (yet)?

I'm seeing it for what it is: stupid.

Please define the term "single woman"... the term is alien to me...

As I've stated in other threads, I tend to avoid bars and clubs because I don't like the atmosphere...

Every woman I've mentioned "Valentines day is stupid" to started going "but why? It should be fun" or something similar. Yeah, it may be fun to you, as you can get any guy you want in the world. But I can't get a woman at all...
