Cinephile, I don't know if I have any specific advice, except this-- ask her out!
When I read your post, it took me back ten years ago, to a crush I had on a sweet girl in my class in high school. I wrestled with myself all week about asking her to the banquet-- I had never asked a girl out in my life, and I was really nervous. Finally on Friday, just before I had to go home, I somehow brought myself to do it and got the words out.
She said that she was already going with someone, but she said it so kindly. It may sound strange, but I look back on that moment as a good memory even though she said no-- whereas if I hadn't asked I might still be wondering "what if?"
Just trying to tell you that there is no worst-case scenario even if she says no. Ask her-- and I hope you have a great time!
