People tend to think you're a perve.

hartzofspace - I think it's BS. I noticed too that you said it was women who were the ones saying it was wrong. That's funny because it's a bit patronising for the subject of your interest and they obviously aren't able to put themselves in his shoes. I find that personally insulting because I went out with an older women (13 years older) and though I knew she had the edge in certains areas of life experience she too was young for her age in some ways and I felt we were more equals than at first you might assume looking at it on paper. There is a definite stigma and I bet ask most men if it's ok and they'd tell you it's fine. Thankfully it's becoming more socially acceptable for older women to date younger men.

As you say anything past 25 and I don't see where age comes into it.

It's not a problem for me, I recently asked out a woman who's 8 years older than me, but apparently she didn't feel the same way :(

I did go on a date with someone 8 years older than me. This was many years ago.

I prefer people closer to my age (mid to late 20s, and early 30s)

The thing that further pisses me off, is when they mention that this guy is in my daughter's age bracket. I don't know what that has to do with it! While I feel the need to address dating concerns in my counseling sessions, I would hate to have my counselor not be supportive when I finally feel as if I am ready to date again. My friend said that she couldn't date anyone her daughter's age. Her daughter, I might add, is 18. :x I guess these people would be happy if I agreed, and promised to go out and by a rocking chair and some knitting.
