My advice, theSPECTRE, absolutely be yourself. If you're shy, be shy. She's spent enough time with you (by the sound of it) to know your personality and confidence. So, if you're shy, don't fake confidence, because she will get uncomfortable and start thinking that you're trying to be like 'all the other guys'.

She probably likes you because of your unique qualities that she likes, and can't get from other people. Trying to be 'cool' will probably ruin that. Anyway, there are some girls who find shyness sweet, because you hold them in such high regard, and because it reveals an innocence. She seems to sound like one of those girls.

Best of luck! :)

Telling a girl how you feel is probably going to isolate her irrevocably. Does she know how you feel about her? Almost certainly.

And it's a safe bet that the majority of women don't like shy and innocent men. On the contrary, they find them creepy and desperate. At best they will only turn them into gay friends.

If you really want to forget the feelings you have then the best thing to do will be to reduce the amount of time you spend with her. Reduce it by a lot. If necessary go on a six-month 'girl moratorium' where you steer clear of girls totally and focus on yourself.

Then spend more time on your own things, hobbies, projects, especially something which will require a lot of brain-work or something which will be physically exhausting.

It won't go away instantly, it takes time, but after I tried it I was much better equipped to dismiss the parts of me that produced those feelings and it gave me the ability to conciously override any and all urges from the romantic part of my personality and I am much more able to be satisfied by my own hobbies and intellectual pursuits.

Unrequited love is painful (as I'm sure plenty of others here can tell you) but that pain can also be addictive and can cloud one's judgement to a degree. Not that this happens all the time, but I did enough damage myself that I will readily acknowledge my own failure. I became infatuated and I found that 'love' was more depressing than almost anything else I have ever been through.

Good luck though, whatever direction you wish to take.

Cheers,

Torak.

Whatever happens, know that we're here, a shoulder to cry on, 'k?

I think you've handled it well. I know some people try to keep hope that some day their crush will change their mind. Never works though.

So well done on taking the chance, and congratulations on keeping your chin up despite being knocked down.

Your my champion for the day, mate! 8)
