On second thought, don't show her that unless you want to feel like Travis Bickle afterwards.

Oh yeah, that part is always good for a wince. Great movie though- I like the voice over and the music... has such a dreary feel to it.

The Notebook since it has the romance for girls and a beautiful girl (my celeb crush du jour, Rachel McCutie) for the men to fall in love with.

Just about any Owen Wilson and/or Ben Stiller movie 'll do. Same goes for some of Meg Ryan's and Lindsay Lohan's movies on a somewhat smaller level.

Off-Topic: I didn't know Urotsukidoji was apparantly so wellknown. It must've been 10 years ago since I saw the movies for the last time. Brings back memories........

From my experience, it doesn't matter what movie you watch. What does matter is whether or not the girl likes you. As for putting your arm around her, use the "just do it" method. If you feel that the moment is right, just put your arm around her. If she likes you, she'll be pleased with it, and might even press into you. If she doesn't like you, she'll let you know right away, such as squirm uncomfortably or tell you to move your arm. In either case, it's a great test to see if she likes you.

Garden State.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Me and You and Everyone We Know.

Edward Scissorhands.

The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Princess Bride.

Amelie.

The following films are definately romantic, but are rougher to watch and aren't to everyone's taste:

Unleashed. (This is like Edward Scissorhands, except much much more violent. It's a tearjerker!)

Underworld. (Okay, despite having multiple good (if subtly told) love stories in its plot, this isn't REALLY a romance. But if you're dating a goth girl, then THIS is the movie to pick. Seriously.)

Shaun of the Dead. ("A romantic comedy. With zombies.")

Spider-Man 2. (This movie series is all about Peter and his love of MJ, and the ending of this one is heartwarming. Also, it's from the director of "Evil Dead II," so if that one works... XD )

The Fountain. (A psychadelic love story...this will at least get you hugs by the end, though it really doesn't put you in the mood for shagging.)

...But I'm biased because these are some of my favorite films. I love films that combine horrific and romantic, though few films that are truly a Horror/Romance. (Maybe Bram Stoker's Dracula?)

:D

I've just seen in the last two weeks...A Night at the Museum...and...The Holiday.

I think these would both be excellent movies for a date.

They're funny, both have romantic parts (The Holiday, more than the Museum), and they're out now.

:D

Ask them what type of movies they like!

Some people find horror films romantic, since they can cling to you while pretending to be afraid.

Asking them what they like is romantic in itself.

Only for casual filmgoers, though. Film geeks have torn both of these films to pieces. Know who you're dating!

I just go to the movies to have a good time....not to "tear anything apart". Yes, they're both silly, but I like a good laugh. I don't need to try and figure out what the sub-text is trying to tell me.

Heh, well, nobody goes to the movies to tear a film apart, everybody goes to have a good time, but a lot of film geeks and film critics find nothing funny--or even remorely entertaining--about films such as these. Basically, different strokes for different folks, so I'm saying know if the person you're dating is someone who likes those kinds of commercial films or if they're someone of a more art-house/foreign type of taste, or if they're into "geek" films a la Lord of the Rings or Quenten Tarantino movies.
