^I'd guess you were really attractive based on that, women often have difficulty believing in their own atractiveness, but certainly there's enough here to believe some people at random would feel happy saying you're attractive in an anonymous forum. My guess is that it's a they, it's normal for guys to think several girls they know are attractive, which means any attractive girl will pick up a few admirers. Don't see how there's anything you really need to do about it unless it's troubling or offending you.

There are no user names. Eugh. This is sooo sticky!

Then I think you're stuck. If you reply and ask for anyone who rated your looks highly to identify themselves, you risk attracting not someone who likes you and is too shy to say it directly, but practical jokers and worse.

Mystc, where did I post that I am at Oberlin? I don't really remember this...

That's "mystyc".

No one online is truly anonymous.

Pardon my mspelkig mystyc.

I'm just curious if I actually posted it somewhere, and if so where.

You are delightfully creepy. I think I like you. (This is completely serious)

Wow.... This is great. I didn't even know you could do this? Could you find my name, too? Did you?

hah, it is not as Toad suggested. The only easy way to get someone's IP address around here is through the chat server, but I have not even been in there yet.

No, it is much simpler than that. Viola, in your response you mentioned you were in college and you refered to your "``Department''" (with quotes). This suggested that you might have mentioned your major or something close to it in your "interests" on your profile. Thus I briefly skimmed your posts, and cross referenced any mention of "school" and any of your interests. Music and school came up in a post in a thread where you were advising someone of possible music schools. Then you mentioned your college's name. Then it was a trivial matter of googling the college to find its location. This took less time than it took to write the post that mentioned it (or to write this one.).

There have been a couple of indcidents in my life when I wondered if I had an anonymous admirer. One was in school when some girl supposedly said she liked me, yet a bunch of people were telling me they knew but couldn't tell me. I don't know if they were playing a game with me or not, but to me it made no sense that everyone knew who she was but the person who truly needed to know didn't.

Another time was in college, when I was emptying my jacket pockets and found a note in the inside pocket. Someone wrote a note that I was really cute but was too shy to tell me but hoped I'd be interested. It was in an upper coat pocket so I figured it was placed there when my jacket was hanging over the back of my chair. I had no idea when the note was put in my jacket, since I didn't always empty the pockets, nor could I figure out who it was because it was unsigned. Nobody ever approached me, and the few girls I did talk to who sat around me in some of my classes obviously weren't it, so I never found out who it was, or if it was real or not.

I just tossed out the note and went on with my life.

Tactics.

You might try this;

Post a message saying something mildly bad happened to you and now you feel unattractive. See who chimes in to contradict you. Pretty hard to resist such a lure. NT grrrls do this quite often. Personally, I think that they do it more to GUAGE the response more than simply eliciting the response itself. But then, I'm an aspie and have no ToM, so that's just a guess. lol
