Personally, I do not see how me having long hair makes me a rebel. I like the way I look. F*** what everyone else thinks. If long hair was good enough for Jesus, then it is good enough for me. I'll skip the facial hair, though.

I have never intentionally broken the law, and I never will. It is sad to see how in my area (Arizona) it is considered cool to harm people who are different than you. I am particularly looking at the illegal immigrants here. I am not racist, but there seems to be a culture where it is okay for them to harm anyone that is different than themselves. I do not think I should be considered a racist just because I am white and I consider their obviously destructive behavior wrong. Stupid f***ing double-standards.

tl;dr: If you are not doing anything that is harmful to yourself or the people around you, f*** what they think! Be yourself.

ha! I had that my whole childhood. both my parents kept telling me that I have to stop this and be an obedient girl or else I'll never score a husband... of course I disagreed with that :P but turns out they were right.

yeah, I did have a crush on Han Solo as a little girl... but to be honest, I'm not that attracted to bad boys anymore as I am to shy, quiet, not-particularly-interested types.

Just be careful. The next shy, quiet, not-particularly interesting guy you meet could turn out to be your long lost brother. Any you might not find that out until AFTER you give him tongue... :)

I am that type.

Although I often yearn to be more bad-boyish. But there can be no escaping your true & original nature, can there?

Women go for the rebel type because American culture idolizes it. Our country was founded as a Revolution, and even before, in the colonial days, independence, self-reliance, and a bit of a defiant nature helped people get by on the wild Frontier. Of course, the archetype has become trashier and trashier through time. Free thinkers of the Enlightenment and Revolution were in time replaced with cowboys, who at least maintained some virtuous qualities (at least in the folklore passed down). That archetype gave way to the contemporary ideal of the rebel as thuggish rapper whose only "values" are greed, misogyny, and violence. Obviously this matches the blatant pandering to the lowest common denominator we see in popular culture.

^That's interesting observation in the way you put it. I so-called rebels differ from time period to time period and culture to culture. In America, that's what I see a lot of worshipping in is the thug-like culture especially from women. I'm not sure if all women think this way since I've never been into that much less had girlfriends into it. But I have seen many girls gravitate toward that kind of jerk.
