But you ARE beautiful :(

I hope you're posting ugly photos! >.>

*I* would have a hard time not saying something about how pretty you are in the first few chats/messages. :P And I like to think I'm pretty on level. I certainly wouldn't be after you for just one thing... of course, we know MEN. <.<

Except Vig. he's a gentleman. *nods*

Anyway, my thuppence (again).

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Yeah. I put a lot of thought and effort into writing my profile- someone who references my looks right off the bat isn't going to be compatible with me for a number of reasons.

Oddly enough I've never referenced some ones looks in their profile.. I don't think it needs to be done.. considering if I'm reading their profile its partly because I found them interesting to look at in the first place..

Interesting. I almost never look at pictures. And when I do, I'm always drawn to the background, hoping to get a glimpse at people's houses and what sorts of things they keep in them- that's more fascinating to me than one's facial arrangement.

*nods* I often write very ...verbose profiles, that I've spent a extended time working on, and it does irritate me when I get messages from people that have nothing to do with the profile, or asks questions to which answers have already been given. I often respond with, "Did ya even read the profile, bub?" Ha! But I can be a bit snarky. You are a better woman than I, obviously.

In any event, I'll leave ya be. ;)

Two points!
1. Oddly enough, yes. I do the same thing... I realize others might view me as shallow, but ... whatever. Like I said previously, when I date someone, I do it for the long-haul, and that means I'm going to have to look at them for a LONG time. If they have another eye growing out of their nose, or a foot coming out of their forehead, I'm not likely going to be able to tolerate looking at them for long :P Also, if their *significantly* overweight, they're not going to be able to keep up with me. Then, I'm not noted for dating any supermodels, so... maybe I'm not as shallow as some would think. *shrugs*
2. Yes! This is a good point... I suppose if someone has decided to talk to me, I have passed the initial "look test" :P HA! :) I hadn't thought about it that way.... :) I can be so rigid sometimes :P

Thanks for posting :)

Hardly- I think of a million snarky things to say, I just can't be bothered.

It's no bother- I enjoy commiserating. :)

Things that irritate me so far on OkCupid:

-Messages like "hey, hows it going?". Sounds like a recipe for a circular conversation. That isn't a good way to introduce yourself imo
-Being asked for my Facebook. I do not add random internet people to my personal facebook. Once I get to know a girl then I will but until that time.. no (this has happened to me in almost all my conversations)
-Getting around to replying to messages
-The stupid attractiveness scale that seems to have limited my matches to the women that guys vote for and message the most
-Being asked for my MSN so we can chat. I almost never go on MSN so messages asking me when I'm coming online are sure to follow
-Women who message me with no picture, profile information or even match %

I'm on it, not much luck either, occassionally women message me and reply to messages (although not more of the time) but they all seem to lose interest after only like the second message. I can only assume someone better responded to them. It is kind of depressing to be honest.

There's a WP group on FB already.
I joined recently, and apparently it was immediately in the aftermath of some dramatic schism?
I dunno. It was just post after post of illiterate inane drivel, which blew up my inbox with notifications- I left.
You're not missing much.

Literally just made a profile an hour ago and have been filling it out, answering the questions (over a hundred I've done now, haha) and looking at a few "matching" profiles.

I have to say, it's interesting. I'm not incredibly optimistic I'll find someone exactly like what I'm looking for, but who knows. It's the internet, after all.

Sorry I'm late on this (long and difficult) topic!

In Europe and more particularly in France, dating sites (e.g. Meetic) are a pain in the... as far as I'm concerned!
I mean, it's loosing your time. I was there during years... Two possibilities:
A lot of troubles with the only girls who wanted to "talk with me", they were "psychotic" (I'm like a magnet for this kind of girls!): alcoholic, suicidal, and so on... I was a kind of "therapist" or something like that...
or
simply NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL...

Some random remarks:

1. If you put a picture on your profile: "They" do not even read what you have written thoroughly. Are you cute enough for "them"? Yes? ok let's try to "go further"... No? ok no way, NEXT!

2. "They" do not read what you have written on your profile (bis), even if you have spent "hours" to write it "correctly".

3. Chatting in "text-mode", sorry but I really can't... (ok, that's my fault!)

4. It's so shallow.....

I don't speak about AS... The only time I discussed about that with a very few of them, they thought I was mentally ret*d...
I am severe... Am I?
