There's plenty of average and a bit below average looking guys in relationships. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure looks give men an advantage but how much of a guy's inability to find a partner is based on social skills and mindset?


Men with autism typically have low social intelligence compared to the neurotypical population. I remember in high school, I was tested by a school psychologist on some sort of pragmatic language intelligence test (I don't remember the name of it) and my mean score was 76 assuming the average was 100. Pragmatic language is just a fancy team for social language skills or social skills.


So people with deficits in pragmatic language intelligence and social intelligence, may have a particularly hard time with making friends and finding someone to date. Women can likely get away with lower social intelligence when it comes to finding a mate, but men cannot. This explains why autistic men are much more likely to struggle with dating compared to autistic women.

I feel that stereotype is greatly exaggerated compared to reality and also might be pretty harmful both for guys and the people who f**k them.

it is unfortunately a darwinian thing where the males are trying to pair their genes with only the best female genes, and the females are aiming for only the best male genes, they are working at cross-purposes.


It's probably not all genes and what you said about social skills is likely relevant.

Fnord had a list of reasons why some people couldn't get laid with a willing partner in the same room, some of those might be in play too.

Oh yes, that makes sense. I don't want my perspective and people I know to do any harm to anyone, by sharing it.

Those are volcels which is short for "voluntarily celibate" meaning they are not in a sexual relationship by choice. The term volcel hasn't become mainstream yet so you'll likely only hear it in incel related communities for now.

I think they're more proud to be as desirable as a youthful Mick Jagger. There comes a point where a high score is almost inherently an accomplishment, even if only from the standpoint of ...and you also had time to sleep, eat and go to the bathroom as well? You must have excellent time management skills. Now that's something to be jealous of.

Hetero women want "financial stability" in a male partner. At a minimum that means is somebody who can maintain the lifestyle they are used to if they take time off for children but ideally it means elevating their lifestyle to something they aspire to.

The more financially stable a man is, the less concern there is over how he looks.
