The money I spent to post my profile on Yahoo Personals was a complete waste, so I figure this couldn't be any more embarrassing.

Name's Randy and I'm a 53 yr old man in Houston Texas. I've never been married and really haven't dated much owing to my serious introversion. I haven't hit a girl since I was 7 years old & I think that should be worth something. I communicate in email much better than in person. I still have a full head of hair but it's not blonde anymore. Now I call it "chrome".

I've been a draftsman for over 30 years and it's not the great career that it used to be. I didn't get an engineering degree cuz I couldn't stay focused long enough. However, in 1996 I got a BA degree in Psychology with minor studies in Sociology, Anthropology, Philosophy & Comparative Theology. That also summarizes much of my "book" interests.

I'm an "old school" tech nerd - instead of computers, I'm more interested in cars and other precision machines made of metal. Lately, I've gotten obsessed with electric cars. I've been trying to mount an electric motor on a 3-wheel bike but keep having trouble with the electronics. Right now it's still cold enough that my arthritis doesn't like working in the garage.

I've been trying to play guitar for the last 30 years and still play at a beginner level due to problems with coordination & dexterity & the fingers don't do anything precisely - can't type very well either. My musical interests range from 60's rock & folk to classical like Mussorgsky & Wagner. I was into "world" music before they called it that. When I came home from the Navy I introduced West Texas to raggae music. I've lately been listening to a lot of Greek musicians and here in Houston we get to hear a lot of Latin, Cuban, South Am music. I'm in love with the Canadian singer Loreena McKinnett & still follow Gordon Lightfoot. I have a huge collection of gamalan music.

I think of myself as a Zen-Taoist-Buddhist-Animist. I've been studying Buddhism for about 40 years but I can't really sit still long enough to meditate. I'm also fascinated by New Age spiritualism and psychics & indigenous shamanism.

Politically, I'm very liberal, to the point of leaning toward the Green Party. I still go to meetings of the OilPatch Democrats because I was a founding member of the group. I'm very dissapointed with the so-called leadership of the Dem Party and regard the Republican Party as treasonous. I'm also convinced that that GOP wants to start a race war and turn America into a theocratic dictatorship. I enjoy conspiracy theories. I've been involved with anti-war protests, civil rights and the peace movement.

I practice organic gardening in my own backyard. I own my house here in Houston, but would like to go back to West Texas.

It seems as though the women who interest me most are the ones who would never marry an Aspie. I like strong, intelligent, self-assured & self-driven, liberated women who aren't afraid of showing & using their intelligence. Many of my best friends have been lesbians but a guy can't get a date in that crowd. I don't think I ever wanted to be a father so I'm not interested in getting anyone pregnant. Of course, most of the ladies my age are already grandmothers anyway.

I wouldn't mind meeting the mothers of Aspies as I assume they would understand me more. Another problem with being 53 years old is that I'm not attracted to women who look too much like my mother.

Gender/Orientation: Straight male
Hair: Brown

I am looking for a woman. Period. I'm getting to the age where I can't afford to be picky. Everyone my age has married off already. Thus I have to look outside that age. My only qualifiers would be that she be about my height, have good hygiene and be reasonably slender. I've learned that women often have better job prospects, whatever their disorder. Thus she would also have to have a job or other source of income.

I'm not expecting a response, but it should be nice.

I have a profile at Aspie Affection, but no luck.

Let's see if I can manage this without too much stuttering:

Age: 24 (25 in April)
Eyes: Blue or Bluish-Hazel (depending on many factors)
Hair: Brown
Weight: 190 (and dropping-in the army and pt test in april)

I guess you could say that I am on the market again after a marriage that wasn't (she had fidelity issues).
At the moment I am on a FOB in Afghanistan, but when I am stateside I live on Fort Lewis (Tacoma and Seattle area for those of you that are left clueless). I love to sing (pretty much any style or artist, but prefer opera/classical/broadway). My interests, oh boy, here we go:

Star Wars (movie saga-haven't read any of the books yet)
Music composed by John Williams, Howard Shore, (the late) Jerry Goldsmith, and all the greats of the baroque and romantic periods.
Learning and playing new musical instruments (and teaching others to play them)
Odd and often useless facts and trivia
Reading and writing poetry and short stories (including the occasional fan fiction)
Reading a variety of literature
Character Voices (i.e. Gollum, Yoda, Gingy-from shrek)
I could go on and on but I won't.

What I am looking for in a woman:

I am fairly open to the type of woman that I would date. It all depends on her outlook on life, and her personality in general. It would be nice to have at least a couple of things in common. I am really loking for someone that will take me for me, try not to change me, be accepting of my quirks, that takes care of herself (but doesn't push it to the point that she is obsessed or workout freak), and is looking for someone like me/or would like to give me a spin (but not too much spinning, i get motion sick from spinning). I know this seems disjointed, and my usual tendency towards pedantic speech patterns went out the window, but this is one facet that I never seem to type well in. Take me or leave me.

Oh, this is absolutely impossible. This is like that other dating site: 1400 men on it, with NO WAY TO SEE IF THEY EVEN LIVE ON THE SAME CONTINENT AS ME (sorry for shouting but it really annoys me). I can travel, say three miles, and that's pushing it. I live in England (sometimes, on these boards, I feel like no one else does) and while I have nothing against Americans and Australians, I just can't afford a 12 hour plane ride for a blind date (and nor can you, I'll bet). Hey, ideal man, how are we going to find each other, using this system? There has to be a better way to organise this. Where are all those AS people with fantastic computer skills? Come on, Bill Gates! Your people need you!

So you Google it. You get the 1400 men site. You get a site Norton is very unhappy about. And you get page after page of ads generated by the fact that you included the word "dating" and which usually are so creepy they make you want to stay celibate for life.

And another thing. If I ticked the "Notify me when a reply is posted" I will get an email every time someone adds a comment here, even if they've never even read this post. Why does the internet do that? The next poster could be a 17 year old in New York looking for a girl who likes baseball. What's that to me, eh?

It's a silly thread, to say the least. =op
IMO, reading this thread is a waste of effort for you, even if there are guys in your area and age range.
I think you oughta start a thread in the ladies section, where you gals can brainstorm to devise a better way, something more suitable for someone like you.

It's kind of like the "what are you listening to right now" thread: you post your video, but it's highly doubtful anyone else takes a look at it. So, it's just lots and lots of stuff just to keep a thread active. Nobody really cares about anyone else's post.

Yes.
Even though I know the odds are against it, it is possible.
