But sir, *everything* is subjective.

Indeed, but the problem comes when someone claims to be right about something which is entirely subjective.

I said judging by the conversations posted here. I have nothing else to judge on since the only context is a back and forth exchange on a dating site. Those snippets, and the whole scenario, were huge turn offs to me and don't fit my PERSONAL view of standards, which I am allowed to have.

Everyone's free to their own opinion. I think if he likes those women, then he should go for them, by all means! Enjoy! The point I was trying to make is that "standards" are subjective. I could really care what kind of person anyone else likes. I don't have to date them. Live and let live.

She's a helicopter pilot, surprised? What do you do matey? Are the next Leonardo Da Vinci or could you be Einstein Junior? :P

Hmm. That's typical of most of the humans I've encountered thus far in life. And it's illogical (Captain).

I just don't how you can make a quick judgement based on a few paragraphs, if that's the standards you hold people to. Everyone is entitled to their preferences and there's nothing wrong with that but it's wrong to assume someone is of a lesser intellect because they don't choose to talk super smart in every sentence, some people just like having a nice fun conversation.

Exactly (sorry, took some liberties with your punctuation, there). :P

Where did I state that those few paragraphs made me believe either of the parties was unintelligent? I never once said that. It's not me who is making judgments and correlations between conversation and intelligence.

That's fair enough :) everyone has standards but simply because someone has different standards, it doesn't mean they are lower.

I think this relates back to what Hyperlexian was saying earlier, you know to me I don't find people that live unhealthy lifestyles to be attractive because it doesn't correlate with my lifestyle, someone else might find them extremely attractive so attraction can be a subjective matter in that sense. We all have different ideals of what our perfect partner or ideal would be so it's difficult if attraction is that subjective.

What I am trying to say is that your subjective high standards might not be to someone else. That's all. I wasn't trying to say anything more than that. I failed. lol

But attraction IS "that" subjective, Wolfheart. Everything is, really.

Haha don't worry, it's cool, I misunderstood a little at first but I get what you're saying now.

Women with big eyes are shown to be more attractive to men but also look less intelligent

Also women like guys who are funny because it is a sign of intelligence.

I'm pretty sure its because they are more fun to be around, being smart and funny aren't correlated. Can i make a list of smart comedians? Sure, i can list 5+ without even thinking about it. But for a general person being funny is more about being fun to be around

Lots of generalizations and stereotypes being flung around as though they were fact, in this thread... Rather tiresome, sorry. :?
