It is so cute when it is so small, so bad that it grows up to be so big and scarry...

And you can't get near them, or mom and dad piggy will kill you. I think wild boars are probably the most dangerous animal in the Netherlands, much more dangerous than wolves and such (who are sort of extinct here anyway).

Yes they are the only wild animal that I'm really afraid of, I think that they are impressive beasts but can be very mean animals from what I heard. I only once saw one in the back of the garden, last summer it was a giant male, very impressive. But mostly you just see the havoc that they make on the ground; it's unbelievable how much damage they can make in one night.

Well, since humans have been eating them for centuries I can't really blame the porkies for not liking us. They are especially aggressive when defending their young, but I see that as a "human" quality, humans would do the same.
Here they are hunted to keep their numbers at a manageable level, if they overpopulate they will enter the cities as happened with you. There are only a few places left in the Netherlands where wild animals can live, the rest is all cities or agriculture, so not much room for wild piggies. They also don't have any predators aside from humans.

No thanks Boo, I think I'll just pet my rabbits and cats :)

Trollcatman, the number of wild boar is exploding...I live in a small village surrounded by forest; they still sometimes come in to the gardens, but mostly to the houses on the outskirts.

Just boil it, little bit of salt and pepper, maybe garlic sauce...

Although because of the weird colors and shrimpy appearance it looks pretty much unedible. And uncute because of no fur. Pretty much all non-mammals are also non-cute. This one is badass, but not cute. The color vision is nice though, I'm curious what the world would look like with a huuuuge amount of extra colors that we can't see at the moment.

There was a population explosion here too a few years ago, but I think they just hand out more hunting permits if that happens. We had wild boar meat with Christmass a two years ago (I think) and it was delicious.
Wild boar are pretty dangerous, if they decide to attack you they the males will attack your groin with their tusks, and the females will bite you there, ouch. In medieval times they were hunted with special boar spears with a large crossguard, because on a normal spear the boar will charge you and impale itself, and still keep running and kill the hunter.

Oh but I disagree, some insects can be quite cute as well.

I heard that the hunters always have to send in the meat to be checked, that there is often trichinella in boar meat...

Too bad that you can't just explain to the boars that you have no interest in eating them, so they should leave you alone

There is some cuteness in that butterfly, but just knowing it's an insect makes it creepy to me. I really don't like insects, or any other arthropod really. I don't eat shrimp or crab because those animals look like monsters. If anyone gave me a plate of lobster I would throw it in the bin and ask for food that didn't look like a hentai movie with tentcales and claws.

i know back east they do lots of hunts and give the meat to homeless shelters. its unfortunate they have to die but atleast meat goes to a good cause. well unfortunately animals have to die so we can eat, just think its important to do so a painlessly as possible and be respectful of the animal.
