I've always wanted to make out to "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division.
It's one of my faves!

If you haven't seen the movie "Control" (It's about Joy Division's lead singer and his suicide) you should.
You'll never think of them in the same way again.

Scott Miller is an amazing songwriter. Some of his songs are about LOVE, but the bitter parts of it too. There's a link at the bottom too where you can hear some songs. I also really like Lie I Believe.

Scott Miller--Angels Dwell

Down in the basement where I spend my time
Cheating solitaire and stealing rhymes
When I'm thinking that I'm all tapped out
She gives me something just to sing about.

Can't be more broken than I've already broke
Can't be more hopeless when I don't have hope.
When she sees that I just don't care
She still finds me something when there's nothing there.

Saints alive and Saints be praised
Angels dwell among us still these days

For the crooked smile on her face
For the perfect fit of her embrace
For the wind moved by our parting wave
That stays behind my back and keeps me safe.

Saints alive and Saints be praised
Angels dwell among us still these days

Scott Miller--Second Chance

I don't want to fight,
Sometimes I'm always right.
I'd love to change it but you know I can't so
I need a second chance.

I know I'll do you wrong,
That's why I wrote this song.
I hate to ask you so far in advance but
I need a second chance.

I came into this world alone
And I've always felt on my own.
(repeat)

My reputation is
Not how I want to live.
And how I'm living isn't worth a damn so
I need a second chance.

I saw her downtown,
I guess she's happy now.
I, myself have found some true romance so
I got a second chance.

I came into this world alone
And I finally found a home

I like One Hundred Years by Five For Fighting and Sixty-Four by the Beatles. "Love" is a popular theme.

"Love?" by Strapping Young Lad.

8)

MARCH!! !

LOVE...is a way of feeling
Oh, LOVE is a way of feeling less alone
So what's all the fuss about?!?

"f**k IT"
LOVE: the paradox of needing
OH LOVE,
MAKE WAY FOR BREEDING
(Give it to me)x2

I know what I stand for;
I STAND FOR ME!! !

I'll wait for the night to come
So far, suicide at home
For I'm not the man you know
This love it's about control

OH WHAT A FEELING!! !! !
OH WHAT A FEEDING!! !! !
Know the chosen ones, ARE HERE!
ALL HAIL!! !

I'll wait for the night to come
So far, suicide at home
For I'm not the man you know...
This love,
IT'S ABOUT CONTROL(You f****r!)

(ALL IN THE NAME OF LOVE)
(ALL IN THE NAME OF LOVE)
(ALL IN THE NAME OF LOVE)
(All in the name of Love...)

there have been a lot of transient attachments in my own life (no pun intended), not just romantic ones but there are close relatives i don't talk to anymore and i left school quite abruptly when i was 12, we moved house quite a lot - so the retrospective nature of this song resonates with me. and whenever a new love interest enters your life, each and every one of their predecessors pale in comparison to this altogether superior being. or maybe i've been fortunate to experience this! and there are people who i've felt really strongly about years ago who i think of when i hear this, that perhaps i loved them more.

the really high pitched bit at the very end (there must be a term for this vocal technique) sends a shiver down my spine.

My personal favorite is "Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place)" by Talking Heads...

Home is where i want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - burn with a weak heart
(so i) guess i must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok i know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo i got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up + say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where i want to be
But i guess i'm already there
I come home - -she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did i find you, or you find me?
There was a time before we were born
If someone asks, this where i'll be . . . where i'll be

Hi yo we drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all tose kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till i'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head ah ooh

I've tried and tried to embed a video from You Tube, but when I preview, it just shows a lot of code, and not the video. What am I doing wrong?

I had exactly the same problem when I tried. So I've gone back to just quoting/giving the link. :?

This is my favorite love song because it describes how I feel, perfectly!

Sixpence None The Richer-"Loser Like Me"

You know I need
all the love you give a loser like me.
I just don't know why you would give it for free
when I don't deserve it, you know now.
I wonder why
you wouldn't want to charge a higher price.
You take a loss and still give another try,
knowing that some day
we'll find each other always saying

your love is fire
and I am the wood
that burns inside
the warmth of your blood.
Without you I'd fade away,
a loser just like me.

You know I try
to give you all the love I hold inside.
I have a hard time when I can't say it right,
but I'll see the day when I will find the words and say them.

Your love is fire
and I am the wood
that burns inside
the warmth of your blood.
Without you and the flame you keep inside,
I'd fade into the night.
I'll always say them,
your love is fire
and I am the wood
that burns inside
the warmth of your blood.
Without you and the flame you keep inside,
I'd fade into the night,
a loser just like me.

You know I need
all the love you give
a loser like me.
I just don't know why you would
give it for free...

Afterglow - Genesis

Like the dust
That settles all around me
I must find my new home
Ways and holes
That used to give me shelter
They're all as one to me now

But I...
I will search everywhere
Just to hear
Your call
Walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world I used to know before
I miss you more...

Than the sun
Reflecting on my pillow
Bringing new warmth and new life
Than the sound
that echoed all around me
I caught a glimpse of in the night

Look now
Now I've lost everything
I give to you
My soul
Meaning of more than I could leave you for
Escapes me
In this world of none
No thing
No one

And I will search everywhere
Just to hear
Your call
Walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world
I used to know before
Now I've lost everything
I give to you
My soul
Meaning of more than I could leave you for
Escapes me
In this world of none
I miss you more

Amazing Song. Just so deceptively simple, and amazingly beautiful. Especially the Seconds Out version.

I could probably write many more love song lyrics off by heart, so I'll just give titles for others:
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler, Without You - Asia, Your Own Special Way - Genesis, Seal Driver - Jethro Tull, Slow Marching Band - Jethro Tull.

Yeah, some of the above probably don't count as proper love songs, but they speak of love to me.

Carlos Santana Feat. Steven tyler
Just feel better

"Just Feel Better"
(feat. Steven Tyler)

She said I feel stranded
And I can't tell anymore
If I'm coming or I'm going
It's not how I planned it
I've got a key to the door
But it just won't open

And I know, I know, I know
Part of me says let it go
That life happens for a reason
I don't, I don't, I don't
Because it never worked before
But this time, this time

I'm gonna try anything to just feel better
Tell me what to do
You know I can't see through the haze around me
And I do anything to just feel better

And I can't find my way
Girl I need a change
And I do anything to just feel better
Any little thing that just feel better

She said I need you to hold me
I'm a little far from the shore
And I'm afraid of sinking
You're the only one who knows me
And who doesn't ignore
That my soul is weeping

I know, I know, I know
Part of me says let it go
Everything must have a season
Round and round it goes
And every day's the one before
But this time, this time

I'm gonna try anything that just feels better
Tell me what to do
You know I can't see through the haze around me
And I do anything to just feel better

I can't find my way
God I need a change
And I'd do anything to just feel better
Any little thing that just feel better

I'm tired of holding on
To all the things I ought to leave behind, yeah
It's really getting old, and
I think I need a little help this time!

Yeah

[Guitar solo]

I'm gonna try anything to just feel better
Tell me what to do
You know I can't see through the haze around me
And I do anything to just feel better

And I can't find my way
God I need a change
And I do anything to just feel better
Any little thing that just feel better

It has an addictive chorus. I listened to it three times. I liked the live version a little better.
