Actually................."creepy" is girltalk for an unattractive guy. A lot of women expect guys to pick up on their lack of interest and not try to woo them in the first place but this rarely happens. Guys make mistakes, gals feel threatened and irritated.

actually, creepy is the guy that rubs against you in the elevator, or on the crowded bus, or 'accidentally' brushes your breasts or will put his hand on your back or hold your shoulder or lean his arm against the wall sorta boxing you in when he leans in to talk to you. Creepy is the guy that stares at your breasts or bottom or makes comments about your body.
Girltalk for 'creepy' means you actions and behavior remind them of men that would do that. Attractiveness has little to do with it.

I don't think there is a consensus as to the meaning of the word creepy. ^ That is pretty much how I think it should be used. Although when I hear it used it's more to describe someone who just has bad vibes.

It'd have to be pretty extreme. Something like wanting to have sex in a coffin or telling me she had a penis on our first date.

if she told me she
-had a penis
-had AIDS/herpes
-something similarly extreme

and those things are more shocking than creepy.

What could she do that's creepy? Not much. Maybe if she said she got turned on by having a guy put a loaded gun to her head during sex, or that she worships satan. Both those things would creep me out.

Ive had girls call me "creepy" in the past IRL despite the fact that I did not and I reapeat Did NOT make ANY physical contact with them! :? Seems like EVERY time a woman is asked to define creepy she gives a specific example when whats being asked for is a GENERAL DEFINITON......*sigh* But "creepy" is the adjective derived from the noun creep which is 50s slang for a guy that is (actively)unattractive.

creeps are unattractive no matter how 'cute' they are.

Almost. I'm trying to think of some movie-star example, but failing. I want to say Tom Cruise, but I really do find him incredibly creepy.. but that's mostly because he looks like my high school guidance counselor, who was an ass. Not to mention the whole Scientology thing. *shudders*
Ok, so I guess you're right.

Especially because I was aware I was a poor communicator, ever since my mid-teens I was very afraid of being seen as "creepy" and I'm still more careful about what I do or say around young women than most guys my age. For example I tend to keep at arm's length from women I'm attracted to unless they move closer to me, even though I've repeatedly been told that body contact is an essential part of flirting.

I've read accounts like "you just get a gut feeling that a guy is creepy and it's generally right", which just induces despair since I imagine a "gut feeling" could be based on virtually anything strange or different about a guy regardless of how relevant it may be.

To me the only valid definition of 'creepy' is a person you find uncomfortable with. All other definitions lack substance due to subjectivity. It is like that saying 'makes your skin crawl' it is a personal affect. It isn't “wrong” either.

I knew a girl who I found creepy. She would get drunk all the time, pretending to fall over so I would pick her up, leaning on me, rubbing her hair (which has some sort of greasy hair product) in my face while resting against my head. pretending to get lost so I would, playing up like she wasn't able to get home safely, so I had to make sure she go on her bus.

I didn't see her for a year. Then i saw her, again she made some improvement but i haven't kept in touch.

If you are honest the vast majority of creepiness is cause by unrequited love/friendship. Especially the other person coming on to strong/desperate.

Creepy is not going to have a universal definition, it's subjective. Though there are some generalities. From outside observation it seems a lot of women will use creepy if they think saying NO wouldn't be enough to get a guy to stop or leave them alone. Of course there are a lot of subtle ways to say no or indicate non interest that people like us just don't pick up on. But here's something I've noticed.

Try to avoid approaching women in a situation where they might feel trapped, either physically or by circumstance. For example when I worked as a cook at a fast food place most of the women worked the register. Occasionally a guy would ask a girl out while she was working, I never saw or heard of a girl saying yes in this situation. In fact the girls would often hide in the back if they saw this person again with in the next couple days or even weeks. Though this wasn't always the case, but it happened often enough for me to notice. A couple other examples I could think of though haven't personally experienced would be catching a girl in a corner of a room, at a bus stop, catching a girl alone and away from her friends at a gathering. Basically catching a girl or woman in a place where they don't feel they have any easy out.

That is an extremely good way to put it!
It also explains very well why aspie guys (who are likely to be innocently oblivious) are likely to be mistaken for the true creeps who just don't care if she says no.

I don't think of all the people I'm not attracted to as creepers, it's just the one's that I get a bad feeling about. Like if you don't seem sincere and seem to have a hidden agenda or something. But I'm sure people find me creepy in their own way.

creepy as in scary.. or creepy as in 'too weird' ... or both.

in any case, women (and men) put a sort of unconscious 'shun' on a person that does not match their preconception or template of how others should behave or know/dress/etc.

In fact, a girl stopped talking to me altogether simply because I proved to her that it wasn't a good idea to put so much information about yourself on the internet (facebook). Lets just say she thought that using a fake name , never giving out her location or personal info like phone number and stuff kept her safe.

I took her laptop, asked her to show me her page. In her page she had several pictures of herself hanging out with friends, etc .. you know, normal stuff. I told her that those pictures were giving out insane amount of information about herself... she had a t-shirt of the university she was going to (so did a couple of her friends in other pics) so that narrowed down her location to the city that hosted the university. I showed her how the 'wall' her RL friends wrote there literally pinpointed the apartment complex she lived in. I googled the apt. complex name , put it on a google map and showed her how, in 15 minutes, without me knowing where she lived (i really didnt) not only did i know where she lived, what places she visited, what school she went to but even what car she drove (it was in a picture).

that made me 'creepy' I guess and she never talked to me again. go figure.

the more I read how you guys think women are, the more I can understand why you don't like them. If I met women like you guys meet women, I wouldn't like them either.

Why do you guys even bother? Why not meet women that are not like that?
