f**k the OP. If he just wants to sit here and moan about how terrible his life is comapared to a person who's been raped or lost their child, just because he's lonely, then he doesn't deserve pity, nevermind help. If he doesn't like his life, he should stfu, get off his ass and do something about it. Maybe the reason he's lonely is because no woman in her right mind would want a man like that.

Those who suffered rape or abuse are victims of unlawful acts - society has a responsibility in this and that's why public resources go into helping them.

As harsh as it sounds, society is not responsible for individual happiness and it's certainly not responsible for providing people with friends or a partner.

Cancer/natural disaster survivors and others often start private groups for supporting each other, and there already are similar groups for Aspergers or lonely/single people.

Asking for pity or starting a contest about "who has it worse" isn't going to help anybody - only taking responsibility for your own life can do that.

I think people who say "Loneliness isn't that bad compared to X, Y, and Z" don't know what it's really like to be lonely.

At the same time, I think people who have the time to sit and whine about being lonely don't have it bad enough to "deserve" pity.

Yeah we do. Part of being an aspie is being lonely, unless you're kind of some abnormal aspie.
You deal with it. You get a pet, you become your own best friend, you enjoy your own company, you do things that interest you.

For someone who has been lonely, singled out, bullied, sexually violated, and physically assulted, i know which one I would choose. I have been through an awful time with a lot of things but some people here have been through mch much worse! Think of what it is like for them.

or make friends at places like school and stuff

How easy is it to evaluate how much someone else is suffering?

But those who didn't go through excruciating experiences as rape or losing a child have no right to speak so lightly of it. I'm sorry for the bluntness, but it makes them seem spoiled.

I don't have kids. I might never have kids. And hopefully I will never know what it's like to lose one. But I know I would choose to be lonely for the rest of my life than ever experience something like that.

I would use the word "precious" personally.

I think you, I and Kilroy refer to the same thing, only the terms differ.

i felt so much anger i had some difficulty communicating any clear thoughts at all. sometimes i wonder how often people IRL must be harbouring ideas like the OP, but who keep it hidden inside?

hopefully not many.
i think most people can sympathise/empathise with those who've undergone some serious trauma.

Write to one of the shows and go on it. I think they pay you for it. So what, make a couple of bucks and get the plight of the lonely on the aire.
