a lot of guys here seem to try and use the mask of "they only want affection" to, I guess try and appear more desirable

Well if you already have a boyfriend or girlfriend or don't desire one, you can easily take affection for granted, but if you feel lonely you don't.

That'll be why you think it'd be boring then - you can take it all for granted because you feel you have it.

You have enough to satisfy the extent of your need for it. Obviously, if that were not true, you'd be lonely.

Either that, or you are lonely but you kid yourself you aren't, as I used to.

I don't know you so I can't make a judgment either way. We can assume the first statement is true because we have no reason to believe otherwise.

So, if you have enough affection (no matter what "enough" is for you), you won't care about it because you don't desire more than you have. However, if you have less than you feel you need, it makes sense to desire more.

Humans are social animals by nature, whether us autistics like that or not.

See my post on the other thread, since we're discussing the exact same issue on there now.

I've never heard anybody describe Maslow's hierarchy of needs in that particular way.

Yes, I really only want a girlfriend for affection and not for sex or anything like that. I'm not a testosterone-driven monster like most NT males are. I want to care for my girlfriend and for her to care for me as well. I want her not to be a burden, asking for clothing and stuff, and I'd not want myself to be a burden for her. I want to be good friends with my girlfriend, good enough that we can tell each other everything and comfort each other, be there for each other.
