So far I matched the highest with Volodja at 93%, then with Laz at 89%, then with techstepgenr8tion at 79%.

We had a little fun recently seeing how well different WP minions matched, here's mine: http://www.okcupid.com/profile/lost-in-oc

I'm starting to think 75% is probably a better place to draw a line in the sand. Some people down there will have a lot in common with you which is better than a 90-95% match IMO who you have nothing in common with. Also, looking at how closely match % and friend % correlates is telling. IMO if some's match percentages to you varies by more than 10 or 15% I start to worry (friend is based on raw similarity, if they're 90% friend and 60% match or vice versa I get the impression that their looking to have needs filled that they can't or don't believe that they can reciprocate - that might work ok for some NT's but it would likely be bad for us and a lot of opposites attract philosophy seems to break down hard).

The other thing - all those great 90% and upper 80% range matches - do doublecheck the number of questioned they've answered, I have a girl in my mid 90's who was there for a long time and has been on OKC for significantly longer than I've been on, then moved up a percent - I took a look and realized that she's now up to 26 questions answered! Someone suggested a minimum, apparently its below 25 if there is one at all. I've answered about 1700 questions but I think that's where I'll stop. Now that they have the 'the two of us' option, it might really look bizarre that I've even answered that many. More than a few thousand answered I could easily see raising red flags.

With the quick match game, I either give 5 stars or I don't play.

So far I've given maybe six girls stars - four only, I think I'm going to stop though and simply not do it. If all they see on the other end is the quickmatch game then IMO it just means "Oh, this guy's a p****. Don't know who, don't care. Delete", they won't know who it was, what it was about, and my overall objective for them to feel complemented or to tell the OKCupid server 'this is kind of what I'm interested in' - likely no such possibility.

I think an oblique approach like that wouldn't be perceived too well by most women.

I think the best way to tell the system what you like is to answer loads and loads of questions.

I love the match %'s based on all those questions, I've answered about 800 so far. It's
really good at weeding out people with different relationship/sex ideals amongst other things.

Also, I like editing my profile frequently, which means I end up on the recent activity list, which means my profile gets a lot of hits. I guess that's my oblique method :P

If you look carefully, you'll see that Spongy posted the link a few messages back, it's easy to miss...

If a profile your searching for doesn't show up, it could mean that our "I'm looking for" parameters filter it out, (eg the person doesn't live within 10 miles or whatever you set that to...)

I got 58% with both Moog and Grisha. I dont know how to search for names so I couldnt look up anyone else.

I never seem to see anyone I get more than 60% for. I must be a very odd sort of person, a contradiction.

Anyway I am not dating yet so my profile is pretty skeletal, no essay and no photo, I just answered the side bar.

Have you answered a lot of match questions, and have you answered them correctly? I remember I found them very confusing for a while. Or maybe you are just weird ^_^

Doesn't surprise me actually! I like you blue_bean, but I don't think we would be very compatible.

Just the sense I get of your personality from reading many of your posts over the last year.
