Imagine a novel from 100 years ago.

A young gentleman meets a sexy but trashy bar girl and is obsessed with her. He can't stop thinking about her but she is hardly a girl he can bring home to meet his family.

Or Lady Chatterley having it off with the gamekeeper or whatever he was. She was attracted to "rough trade" but he would not be a suitable partner.

Or that novel "Lolita" where the guy got the hots for a 14 year old sexpot. Lolita was not an innocent young girl. She knew how to use her budding sexuality to manipulate men.

I don't think that this is an example of attraction and irritation. These are more cases of attraction to someone who you are not supposed to be attracted to, a totally different thing.

As an example of what I would consider attraction and irritation, I can think of some women that I know who are extremely attractive but who are so preoccupied with trivial matters that talking with them is a painful chore.
