Fair enough... to be completely honest I just have an issue with beauty and the beast in particular, because I can identify with the beast. He's secluded in his castle, hated by the townspeople, and hideously ugly. But unlike in the story, people like the beast (and by extension, me) do not get the girl. And until there's a woman that would be willing to date me, I'm calling BS on anyone that wants to pretend to be belle in that story.

Although, to be fair, the disney character I probably resemble the best is actually Quasimodo (from the hunchback of notre dame). Similarly hideous and secluded, but he's in a church all the time and generally just wants to do the right thing. And that one is more realistic because quasimodo doesn't get the girl in the end (she hooks up with that captain guy), so I don't have as much of an issue with that...

i never saw that movie.
what was the moral/point to that one?
- like beauty and the beast is obviously only inner beauty counts etc.

I don't know much about the original (as Disney is known for doing, they mangle the classic stories to fit their own fairy tale plots) As far as I can tell, though, Disney must have turned it into a phantom of the opera-esque thing. I just know that, in that particular movie, the damsel is not in love with the hero, but rather with some buff soldier captain dude. The hero is just friends... a feeling i've come to know all too well.

Only if you're in a Disney movie.

I wish. :3
I'll love to be Belle.

Yeah, because chicks totally dig an ugly antisocial jerk that everyone else wants to be rid of...

I have a history of lying to my previous partners with the exception of my most recent just because... well, I am the definition of jerk. :\

Well, I can assure you that after all I've been through, I can't lie anymore. I think I'd kill myself if I ever did that to Emily. :\ Or anyone for that matter. It's why I'm so antisocial now. I avoid talking to people because I'm afraid to hurt them. v_v

Gah, so negative lately. I need to have a good, long session of music.

Edit: Every single time I hijack a thread without meaning to. D: -Leaves to prevent further threadjacking-

Do I detect anger and cynicism?

Sorry to go even further off topic, but I think the only reason the beast won over Belle was because he pretty much kidnapped her and she was forced to hang out with him long enough to get to know the "inner" him. It's been a while since I watched it but, yea, I think the deal was that she had to go live at his place or else he'd permanently imprison her dad, right? I guess that's one way to get people to really get to know you  Still doesn't make much sense, though. I don't think "guys who kidnap people's elderly fathers" are the type that most women go for. You'd think they'd be PO'd about that for a long time.
