But how does that relate to curvy ladies?

LOL I was only asking, not policing!

Sorry!

I understand, I think, but I'm not going to answer.

Well, I'll give it an attempt. Germany overran parts of Russia in 1942, and Russia is still resentful over it. Am I right?

Those are not just stones, but bones.

A bit of an understatement, but you are right (20,000,000 Russian/Soviet dead)

It doesn't. So if you really wanted to police the thread, you were right. Fortunately, few of us really care. Threads go off topic all the time.

I don't know about you, but seeing where threads end up is the funnest part.

Unless of course it's a serious personal issue being discussed...

Oh, I know they do. I wasn't "policing" it. I was just amused to see how fast this one had changed, and confused as to how we got from curvy ladies to a handful of stones!

It's a bit like Chinese Whispers. Remember that?

Shame on you, Grisha, this is a very serious personal matter for Frieslander indeed. :shameonyou:

Ok back on topic.....

I posted a photo of myself on another thread asking if i looked like a hooker. Well a comment i got was that i was a tad overweight. (paraphrasing and can't be stuffed looking for thread). I have a bmi between 20-21 depending on water retention. That is on the lower side of healthy weight. I think lots of people's opinions on healthy weight has been skewed by the media. Most celebrities are underweight.

I fail to see what is "rude" about referring to somebody's physical appearance (hair, height, eye colour, build) as a means of making sure two people are both talking about the same person.

This. If "Fat" is rude, then "Thin" is rude, "Blonde" is rude, and "Brunette" is rude. Sooner or later you're going to run out of adjectives.

And then you'll have to point.

Pointing is rude.

Agreed.

By BMI standards, I'm in the healthy range. Nothing wrong with me at all.

By Hollywood standards, I'd be practically obese. I'd be heading for some serious lypo or an eating disorder.

Why do so many people think they're "supposed" to look like a movie star and blame the "media" for planting the idea in their head?

Personally, I don't. I'm perfectly happy having a big bum.

But a lot of people out there (both men and women) have had their perceptions of "normal" messed up by the media, and consequently think my big bum makes me fat.

It's their problem, not mine.

All of society tells women they *must* look like a movie star in order to be viewed as pretty. We're also told by society that we aren't worth much unless we are pretty.

It takes a lot of hard work not to buy into it all.
