Ah but second hand smoke is much more dangerous and you can't avoid that sometimes. Unless the person chain smokes I wont have a problem.

Well I would be kind of a hypocrite if I rejected someone for smoking...as I do, but yeah unless their life revolves around ciggerettes I would not care and i would probably smoke with them. Thing is though is I would be up front about that before actually commiting to a relationship so I don't have to find out later they have a problem with that sort of thing.

Any kind of habitual smoking would be a dealbreaker. It's disgusting and I have bad associations with it.

Deal-breaker, definitely. Smoking is the worst thing a person can do, and the biggest turn-off ever.

Not at all. I don't like how people make a big issue out of it. I've never smoked myself.

Oh dear. I fear I may have accidentally trolled.

Okay so it's slightly better than murdering someone, but it's still very bad.

Well I would argue its much better than murdering someone....but yes it is bad by the definition of the word, as it is quite unhealthy.

ok well I'm not gonna read the whole thread now but just wanted to say that it saddens me that so many people nowadays consider it a deal-breaker. I'm a social smoker because of 1) habit 2) smoking actually does help me deal with social situations, but since I don't socialise much *and* my only chances of meeting someone are when I'm out socialising, I feel like I'm putting off a lot of men simply for the fact that they see me light up a fag with my glass of whisky, even though I don't smoke 99% of time.

so guys, please don't write off a girl just because you see her with a cigarette in her mouth, there are many types of smokers and most of the do want to quit, all they need is a little motivation.

My ex girlfriend was an occasional smoker who wanted to quit when we got together. She quit for a couple months but then decided to start up again & started doing that more than she did before & gave me the attitude that I could either accept that or get. Our relationship feel apart for other rezones but I was very concerned about her health & wanted to nag he to quit

yeah I'm sure that if I met someone who was a non-smoker I'd have no problem quitting, plus I'd have a better reason to quit I guess. if your ex took your caring about her health for nagging though, well that sounds like she wasn't worth it.

As an asthmatic person, I always cough and wheeze aggressively whenever I'm exposed to people's secondhand smoke, and I can never withstand secondhand smoke at all. So I don't think I'd feel comfortable dating both light and heavy smokers.

I however, wouldn't mind dating a light-drinker.

If a girl smokes when she drinks it doesn't bother me at all, if she smokes constantly - pack a day or more, that could be problematic, even more for the fact that its like dating a girl who smokes weed daily - she needs to be with someone who has shared experience in that regard, otherwise its a given rift in the relationship.

My bf smokes a cigar occasionally and that's fine but I do wish that he wouldn't smoke at all. I worry about the cancer risks. >.<

Don't worry, it's so unlikely that some guys here are going to meet you by accident while you are smoking a cigarette. ;).
