marriage - nah, why does anyone still bother with silly bit of papers intertwangling personal relationship with society? tax reasons and a good party make some sense.

How about a great big puppy pile of lovely people, loving each other, and living together as a family?
That should have a name, a community marriage.

never works of course, but its a lovely thought

If you don't get married it's a commune, if you do it's bigamy.

Wow. Seems like the general consensus is that arranged marriages are... better than marriages made out of choice and the usual method of dating:engagement:marriage!

It's actually what I expected. I agree with you all who commented. There doesn't need to be all-encompassing love, just commitment and at least a bit of mutual attraction. A world full of arranged marriages would be easier, filled with more certainty on what is expected, and a lot less frustrating for many, many people.

I have read articles about this subject in the past. Four or five people living together and raising children together, as a big family. I do not know if it has a name other than "consensual polygamy". But I have read about people who make this work. Mormons are a good example. I do not think "it never works". I think you should be very open and very mature, but I think it could work.
