what is love to an aspie? question from an aspie's wife
I’ve only recently discovered that I’m an Aspie. I’ve been married twice, and had about 8 dating partners in my 47 years. The best way, due to a recent relationship, I can describe love (at least to me) is:
•A strong anticipation knowing that I would be seeing him or speaking with him. My heart would go all aflutter and I’d get bouncy. (I can get very excited.)
•Feeling a pain in your heart when they aren’t around.
•I wanted to help him do things, and I think I got kind of freaky with it. Didn't know how else to show it.
•Even though the pain is unbearable, you let them go so that they can be happy. I think I know what a broken heart feels like now. I don’t like the feeling. I haven't dated anyone since him, and it will be 6 months on 11/10/11.
Each Aspie is different. Read the books. They are very good. Reading them helped me learn I was an Aspie!! Good luck! If you want to talk, PM me.
PS: My friends tell me that it isn't love I'm feeling because we only dated for about 2.5 months. I know I never felt this way about my ex-husband and we were together for 16 years. Don't know what else to call it. ![]()

I'd call it basic affection; wikipedia might call it limerence.
