The problem with letting a woman know you care about looks
Someone who acquires some disfiguration is not "useless". Stephen Hawking is as useful as thousands of you. You will not likely ever approach being as useful as he is, and wouldn't in a hundred lifetimes. Neither would I. He is disfigured and he can't help that. He will probably never get laid. So what?
I'm sorry but this view seems cruel - if it was logical that would be one thing, but it's not even that, it's just cretinous.
Who's talking about Stephen Hawking? He can't prevent what happened to him, nor can the person who's disfigured. You took what I said and spun it. If you're fat, try not being fat. Especially if you don't like being fat and are unhappy because of being fat.

Stephen Hawking got married twice and i think he has children.
I believe that was before he became disfigured.

I agree that view is appalling. I hope ZX just chose his words poorly.

Stephen Hawking has been married twice and is the father of four children. He got diagnosed with ALS at the age of 21 and lost the ability to walk in his late 20's.

Sometime yes, sometimes no, and I've already told you what the right approach to the issue is, and words women I know are OK with men voicing. Go back to the first post, last paragraph.
Take my advice or leave it, but don't argue it isn't valid, for that is just being stubborn.

No one said that. Except for you. The title of the of the thread specifically says The problem with letting a woman know. I guess u missed that part. No one said you can't have a type. You just don't don't have to rub the fact that that she isn't attractive to you in her face. And yes some women are so sensitive that even mentioning an unattractive trait hurts them.
I never tell someone they're unattractive. When it comes to rejection or criticism, men are just as sensitive as women—especially if a man is criticized on something he's worked hard with.
A lot of women but hard work into their appearance.
I think it's interesting you brought up sensitivity over something that's taken hard work as a male thing.
Read my post again or stop heckling any man who posts here just to have someone to heckle. If a woman is unattractive, I don't tell her, but if she's interested in me, I don't insult her intelligence with bullcrap on how our horoscopes don't match or that there are no pink clouds/sparks/chemistry/[insert generic and vague excuse here] either.
I never said that hard work was a male thing.
I'm not going to argue with you, I just think the way your slant comes through in how you write is interesting.

In reference to a flesh eating disease, as a disfigurement impairing sexual relations, you pointed out that it can't be helped and then said "If you can't even help yourself ... then you're useless."
You may I suppose have been referring to being overweight instead, but you failed to make that clear.
If you were referring to being overweight, its less cretinous but still slightly so. A bit of weight does not make a person "useless". I am sure there are thousands of overweight women who contribute more to society than you or I, ever will.

Not only is it bothersome to women who may actually be unattractive, but also to women who ARE attractive, and that is a point these picky men are missing. Emily on the Bachelorette is thin and STUNNING, based on family history unlikely to ever get fat, yet that remark upset her, because as she said, she wants to be loved for her heart, not her looks.
In my experience, that sentiment is not uncommon among stunning women. A friend of mine in college who was a model used to go out without make up and wearing glasses so that she could avoid men interested only in her looks.

Yes but he got married and had kids before he became seriously disfigured. Perhaps some of that happened after he lost the ability to walk, but he wouldn't have been seriously disfigured til later than that.

OK I'LL REPEAT. STEPHEN HAWKING'S CONDITION AND FACIAL DISFIGUREMENT ARE NOT THE SAME AS BEING FAT.
YOU HAVE IT WITHIN YOUR POWER TO PREVENT YOURSELF BEING FAT, IF YOU BECOME MORBIDLY OBESE DO NOT COMPLAIN OF BEING UNHAPPY WITH YOUR APPEARANCE IF YOU THEN REFUSE TO BE DISCIPLINED ENOUGH TO SHOW SOME SELF RESPECT AND TAKE CARE OF IT. THEN YOU ARE USELESS.
And I'm cretinous. Wow. f**k me.

Something I have to step back and realize - whether its this very thread or other theads with guy's talking about anything at all that's even remotely negative of women; in the real world, not the artifical one created by the veil of society, other 'real' men would be knocking their teeth down their throats. There's an unspoken contract that weaker men have no right to say what they see, and stronger men simply let weaker/lesser men live for the sake of letting them live. If you call it unfair or unjust, time to have your face essentially painted across the ground.
I sometimes wonder if this is where these expectations largely come from, among many things that add to that uncanny animalistic curvature that never seems to go away no matter how much people want to preach about a post-gender world.

Then accept that your attitude will make you unattractive to many women.
You have a right to your attitude, and women have a right to reject you for it. My point is that women WILL reject you for the attitude, and that includes stunningly beautiful women who have about zero chance of ever getting fat. What percentage of women feel this way, I don't know, but take a clue from what you hear from us on this board - it is a higher percent than you are allowing for, or that the guy on the show who made the comments I referred to allowed for.
And let me repeat - it is not only women who are fat or unattractive who get upset by fat comments.

That sentiment is not uncommon among men too! Yet a lot women would let men know what physical traits they hate. Tell me, what's difference between that guy and a woman who says , in front of men, that she would never go for a shorter man (even ridicule him) but only for a tall one?
Stop claiming it's just a male thing!
