Well, as stated above, it is scientifically proven that people deemed attractive by modern standards get away with things more easily. Attractive doesn't neccessarily mean "physical beauty", but they do often correlate. Being smart, witty and a skilled quick talker can also be an attractive quality. You could say people with charisma are less likely to be subject of negative prejudice. Then again, most people assume that attractive people have an easier life, and that in itself can be a prejudice, too. Taking a look at prisons, contrary to popular believe, even when looking at the dynamics between criminals in jail, it is not those big, tough mofos that beat people up who usuallly call the shots and are high up in the prison hirarchy, but the smart and witty guys who committed fraud, white collar crime and other "intellectual" offenses that usually require being attractive in a way.

When talking about the "rapist" stereotype, I think we have to make a HUGE disctinction between passionate sexual assault and serial rapists that put a rather large amount of planning and selecting their victims. For the first, there is really no distinctive type of "sexual offender" or "rapist". As for the latter, their need for dominating women and "taking" them, and taking enhanced sexual pleasure from the violence involved, indeed often stem from abuse and constant rejection due to certain unattractive qualities, especially low self-esteem stemming from sexual abuse during childhood, or other family issues like extremely dominant and overprotective parents (the good old "divorced mother that emotionally replaces the father with her son" is a common constallation). Low self-esteem often leads to low personal hygiene, obesity and social isolation.
Alas, while these things certainly apply to a larger portion of serial offenders than for normal people, a huge, HUGE influence is owed to how the media present such things. Social misfits and offenders that fall under this cliche are more likely to be protrayed and covered in news and other media more extensively, because, let's face it, people don't want to be educated, they want to hear validated what is alreay set in their mind.
Shockingly, I have heard these whole "Man, does he look like a child molestor" and thelike quite often from parties of women who spot someone like this. And in the long run, I do believe that there is such a thing as self-fullfill prophecy. Just tell someone all the time that you'd think he could only get laid if he raped someone, and sooner or later, he'll do it.

Stalkerish perhaps, but I don't think being unattractive alone makes you a rapist.

Attractive people can be rapists too...since you assume that you can trust them. That'd be biased and shallow of someone to even thing if someone was unattractive that he/she=rapist.

yep. a lot of the big time rapist/killers were actually attractive people. How else was someone going to do as they said to fall in their traps.

I'm curious about this.

I don't know about rape, however you could have asked that question in the 50's regarding black guys vs white guys.

But when it comes to sexual harassment, it seems that unattractive guys are more likely to be seen as harassers than attractive guys.
