No.

I'm ignoring a guy who's handsome, tall, has pretty eyes, a sexy smile, and wears nice clothes that make him look hot. He said that I was "very, very stupid", and I can never forgive him (I told him straight and gave him a couple of chances to apologise).

OK, so what if he told you you were very very smart but unattractive? Would that make you feel differently?

Yes, it would because the insult isn't personal.

Another thread made me think of this. So, if you met a really, REALLY hot guy and he had a crappy personality, or was dumb as a rock, would you date him just for his looks?

By crappy personality I don't mean a jerk or abusive, just a crappy personality.

I once dated a guy whose personality sucked so bad that I hated talking to him. He was also dumb as a rock and a bigtime redneck. He was so bad that I told him not to talk much around my friends either. Apparently he was used to that so he complied. He was the hottest guy I've ever gone out with though. Built like a God too. He was model hot. Being in the movies hot. A model in the movies hot lol. We dated for several months until I just couldn't take it anymore. Plus, he had the smallest penis I have ever seen. That did not help matters any. On the plus side, he had a motorcycle and was some kind of blackbelt in Kung Fu (not that Karate that you send kids to after school).

So, would you date a hot guy who only had his hotness going for him? If so would you only date him when you weren't looking for a long term relationship? I was young when I dated this guy and wasn't looking for anything permenant then.

Absolutely not. I have a very low tolerance for stupidity or lack of originality. I just can not tolerate the inane. If my kids can have a more compelling and thought provoking conversation with me than an adult male, then he has no use to me.

I would rather get my rocks off by myself than have to deal with a dead brain just for a nice body.

I don't understand - what do you mean insult isn't personal?

The insult of "you're stupid" or "you're ugly" is personal. Saying "you're unattractive" is more general rather than something specific/personal.

What was the point you were making?

I really don't understand how is "you are ugly" different to "you are unattractive" - it's two different ways to say the same thing.

The point I was making..was there a point? No, I wondered why you singled out that specific instance because men are far more likely to critique women for their looks than their brains, so it intrigued me that this in particular upset you. I am sorry, I guess nobody has ever said that to my face, even if they may have thought it so I cannot imagine what it is like.

When I was 14 a guy made a bad remark about my nascent boobs and I've had a complex ever since. He would definitely qualify in the good looks / crappy personality category. He got me into his (parents) tent (we met on holiday) and tried to rape me because the fact that I accept to come in meant that I was 'up for it'. He is lucky I didn't break every bone in his body little s**t. So yea - one could say I learned that lesson very early in life

Oh I just remembered another prick who fits into this category. Again, I was 13 or 14 and he was 19. He was really incredibly good looking but that had obviously seriously went to his head so that's another one that asked me to come into his trailer and then assumed that would mean sex. So, that one got thrown clear across the place and almost got his skull smashed in. But if I hadn't been me (i.e. if I was a regular 13/14 year old girl, he would have raped me for sure). This is not to say that every good looking guy is a rapist, it just so happened that I've had crappy luck in my early life.

No. I wouldn't be attracted to him. I don't do boring and stupid.
