I hate valentines day actually, I just jam to all of the single songs like Ridin Solo to mask my pain of never being able to experience a relationship.

It's always seemed a stupid bland holiday to me.
If you love someone, you love them all the time, right?

In the same vein, I've never understood why it makes people feel lonely.
You're just as lonely on the 13th and 15th, after all.

I'm an NT and I loathe Valentine's Day even when I'm in a relationship. It's just enforced commerciality . . .

I mean I don't really need a pre-determined day of commercialism to celebrate my love and appreciation for my boyfriend. Sure we still might still do a little something on that day, why not? But neither of us really care about that it's valentines day if that makes sense.

I pretty much echo Sweetleaf's sentiment, but if I had a significant other that was into it, I'd make the effort. Make it enjoyable for both of us; food, wine and intimacy over cards, flowers and candy.

Hate it, years back an NT girlfriend dumped me on valentines day.. apparently my best efforts were "all wrong"....
Girls have also dumped me on Xmas day and new-years day..
My question is why can't NT girls have the consideration to dump a guy on an UN-memorable date?
They're fond enough of accusing aspies of being inconsiderate....

^ they say the days around christmas are some of the most common for breakups. (or is is least common...???)

i never got the impression that having a specific day to celebrate love means that all the other days don't matter. it's just there. not sure where that massage is coming from...

my partner seems to like doing something on that day, which i happily go along with because i seem to almost never have time to spend with her otherwise; i'll gladly take whatever chance i get. but we keep it authentic, make each other handmade little things that are irreplaceable.

once you are with that other person it becomes easier to ignore the commercialization.
