It means he is multi-tasking. Could be talking to someone else, but could also be balancing his checkbook, doing laundry, on the phone, going to the bathroom, dealing with kids, etc. Don't read too much into what might just be an innocent situation.

When someone says they don't want anything serious, it usually means they just want to f*k without getting into a relationship. Kind of like a friends-with-benefits sort of deal. It usually doesn't mean they just want to be platonic friends with you.

I mean let's be honest, who signs up for OkCupid just to be friends? You're there to date people, you're there to meet people and f*k them, you're not there to make another platonic friend.

sometimes you can stumble on a platonic friendship without looking for one.

anyway, i would just keep an open mind and continue to strike up conversions with new people, as well as continue to pursue the ones who seem interested in you.

I really hope you right, he only said sexual things to me a few times in one day, the other days we talked, it was non-sexual.

He is a teacher, do you know if teachers do schoolwork at home? He also writes.

They sometimes do, but you just don't know what this person was doing in this case. Could be anything. Why do you care?

I know it’s hard, but you have to try not to get too attached to him. He is very likely to be using the dating website to find people to date, and there’s a chance that once he finds someone, you won’t hear from him anymore because he could stop using it.

One of the difficulties of electronic communication (chats, texting, IMs) is that you can have mysterious situations crop up that are hard to figure out.

This is why, when I was dating, I always wanted to move to actual in-person connecting fairly soon. (Which is NOT the same as anonymous hookups!) It saves you from wasting loads of time on someone who is clearly not going to be right for you. It had nothing to do with seeing what they look like! ...though that might be true for some folks.

I had a rule that I was not interested in long-distance online "relationships" but only local matches. Then, I would try to meet the person fairly soon so that I was not wasting my life chatting to someone who wasn't appropriate.

After an initial meeting, texting would be more like a check-in (Did you still want to go to that movie tomorrow night?) rather than a deep philosophical exchange.

It can all be very frustrating, I know, but it's how I met my second husband.

Guys don't go on OKCupid to find "just friends". But if you want to meet him, just make sure you are not alone. Take it slow, know what it is YOU want.

Why so negative?

Some of your posts remind me of myself, and I know it’s easy to get attached to people and worry about things like when they were last online. I’ve noticed it’s a good idea to be as honest and realistic with yourself as you can be sometimes, even though it’s hard and upsetting. It can stop you from getting hurt later on.

No man wants to be "just friends". That's a woman's job when she meets a man that doesn't reach her ridiculous standards.
