Sabreclaw, I have very little advice about dating but based on the picture you sent - there are very simple things you can do to raise your attractiveness.
1. You are cool color type, try to wear black, white, royal blue and other so called winter colors;
2. If you want to use dating apps, ask someone to make you a better photo in a better setting.

I doubt he is using this pic in his profile, probably it was a quick selfie to show us only.

I hope so...

My face looks much worse from other angles.

I was ridiculed for my "buck teeth" and called an "ugly ret*d" all through school. Haven't had them mentioned again since, so kind of forgot about the teeth. Thanks for reminding me of that. My appearance is just one of many reasons why I can't make friends or date. Sometimes I feel the urge to take a knife to myself and just cut bits off because I'm sick to death of having this disgusting body.

That's a bit extreme. Also you aren't really ugly, honestly. With a better haircut and angle you could be above average lol. Your face is pretty symmetrical. The ONLY two things that stick out to me is that your hair looks strange. Maybe dirty? And the style is awkward. You might consider going to a barber or salon to get something right for your face. And of course your teeth. But I don't think they are even that bad. They're only really notable there because the photo you took exaggerates them. If they bother you that bad, you might save up to go to a dentist. It's not so extreme as you may feel, though.

Here's a nice video while we're on this subject, by the way, just saw it today. The speaker is great.

I'm not simply against dating apps, I'm against 95% of all apps. They're literally composed from ulterior motives, loopholes & greed. Dating apps are almost exclusively designed by misogynistic rich kids without a shred of respect for women, much less their fellow men.

Apps are designed by those who care about money more than users' time, unless they're free. Not to mention advertising; it's not just a problem regarding Google or Facebook, dating apps are advertising people to one another in order to attract even more people into behavioral algorithms.

Please wake up everyone, you deserve better technology.

I agree. Although I still peeked in here because I have been playing with the idea of messing with one or two, heh. Trying to find people where I am seems nigh impossible as an aspie who never leaves the damn house (Except to hike, but I never see anyone... nor would I speak up if I did). I wish there were easier ways.

I posted ONCE on a site for that kind of thing a few months ago, and got nearly a dozen friend requests within a few days. Spooked me and I ended up ghosting every last one :skull: I felt like such an a**hole and it honestly made me anxious as hell. Regretted it real fast. Ech.

@Sabreclaw -- It is. You have a good face, actually, I would definitely do something about the hair still though. You have no reason to be so self-conscious.

I find women on dating sites usually fit into one of three categories: hideous, repulsive personalities, or way out of my league. Attempting the swiping process is almost entirely me swiping "no" on them for one of those three reasons.

I'm ugly and don't have social charisma, so ultimately getting the attention of the few women I'd swipe "yes" on is nigh-impossible.

For context, here's me:

I would categorise you more on the average side than ugly.

You probably don’t think there’s any ugly people.

Why would you say that?

I love hiking! Let me know if you're in Colorado sometime.

Side note: This is not a swipe in any particular direction. I just code & click far too much so I seriously need more fresh air.

Man, I've known a couple people from Colorado. I've always wanted to see it, has a lot of really great hikes. But I love Oregon too.

Have you ever thought to fix your teeth? Can you get insurance cover for it?

If Sabreclaw was not self-conscious about his teeth before, you just gave him an additional reason to feel insecure.

I didn't think the tooth gap was so severe that a better photo wouldn't overcome it. The angle of the face and over-emphasis on the central features (nose, nostrils, teeth, etc.) are unnatural.

The more successful people on swiping sites have really excellent photography. It's rare that a selfie does the trick, except possibly when people have given a lot of effort to overcoming the limits of the easy cell-phone selfie. There are also apps out there that improve selfies, for instance make your face thinner or your eyes bigger. A lot of the out-of-your-league people are using these tricks.

I agree with this. The camera angle isn't flattering. If you want to take a good phone selfie, you've got to learn to position yourself and the camera in such a way that it looks natural, as if you're looking straight at someone basically. Lighting and facial expression are also important elements of a good selfie.

In saying that though, selfies alone don't make for a good dating profile.

I'm not good-looking by any means, but I would say I know how to make the best out of a selfie.

Good lighting, my head or face are not turned or positioned in an awkward/unflattering way, I'm looking directly at the camera and I have a slight smile going on to animate my face a bit, but not to the point where it looks forced or unnatural

You mean colour-wise? Yeah it's quite red compared to my brown head hair.
