I think I remember why I decided not to participate. It's all sickening and weird, as in unnatural.

That it's some kind of a contest or a competition, or akin to a shopping experience (I also hate shopping with intensity). A healthy relationship can't possibly be birthed this way.
I also never became comfortable with the idea of pursuing multiple romantic interests at once.

There is a difference between not being happy about reality and flat-out rejecting it. Living life in denial mode is actually worse than the "sickness" you feel when your ideals aren't met.
This is an accurate observation of the world. I didn't invent the term "meat market," but that's very much how these dating apps are used.
As far as "pursing multiple romantic interests at once," even if you go on a date, and it's perfectly innocent, you're still "feeling out" whether you and the other person could be compatible, "have chemistry," or if there's no desire for further contact. If both parties agree that a relationship isn't worth pursuing, are you saying it's "sick" of them to go on a date with a different person the following week?

I suppose that could be taken as a contest or a try to see with whom might one fit better. It could be a difference in personality match even if there was just one person. the only reason why someone might stay with a mismatch would be because of fear of being alone

If a woman bestows her kindness upon 9 men, and remains with 1, 9 are lucky and unfortunate at the same time. The woman spends a lot of time, the men just a bit. But she will always be able to easily have a man. While they grow old within unstable variety. History is repeating itself upon men.
