If I wasn't in a relationship and decided on trying dating I would certainly see if my alma mater has dating events or a dating board.

That would be way too weird.

So that's what mater in alma mater means.

I believe it's Latin for "mother."

Anyway.....why is that so weird?

I used to see many young girls date older men. And nobody batted an eyelash. And it wasn't that long ago---the 80s. My father married a woman 25 years younger than him. Nobody gave a crap.

There are many movies about these sorts of relationships. A famous one is "Shadowlands." About a man of approximately 60 having an affair with a woman in her 20s. Nobody sought to "cancel" that film back when it was done.

"nurturing mother", though I have no idea what that has to do with dating.

Your "alma mater" is either the college or high school you graduated from. At least in the US.

I was a baby in the '80's. And cancel culture didn't exist then.

I don't have a moral objection to dating someone that's 19. It would just feel weird. 24 or 25 is fine. But 18 or 19 is too far.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that young women who are into older men don't have "overweight and broke" in mind.

Yeah, dorkseid said he lives in a college town and studied in college, not known if in the same town. In any case, single girls/women arrive every semester. They must be hooking up somewhere, right? Some of them might be looking for more than just hookups. You will be especially good if you can take them in to live with you, would be an extra thing you have to offer. Dorms or rent can be very expensive around colleges.

I rent a room from someone else. I don't have place to invite anyone else to live with me.
