i guess i'm hopping in here a little late but i'll give my opinion anyways.
it sounds to me like you don't want/aren't ready for a serious relationship, as mentioned before. i've been in a "friends with benefits" situation and if you can both keep emotions out of the picture, it can be really fun. i had to break off mine because i felt she was getting attached and i didn't want to hurt her, she was a friend after all, we just happened to sleep together. lots of people in those types of relationships aren't actually friends, they're more like f**k buddies, but it really depends on the people and the situation. mine was pretty much like an open relationship without the emotional aspects. we would hang out, go to movies, have sex, etc. but we didn't expect any kind of relationship out of it, we were fine if the other person saw other people, we even took a break when she had a boyfriend for a while and got back "together" when they broke up. so i think, at least for now, that would be a good situation for you, so long as you make it clear from the start that you don't want a relationship.
since this isn't an exclusive relationship, make sure you use protection, you don't want an STD. if you start something like that, make sure you always have some condoms with you because guys aren't always responsible (imagine that) and don't always have them, even if they're planning on having sex. so be safe and have fun.

Oh dear. I hope she was alright. Haha I think I would be very good at excluding emotions, I tend to have a slight lack of emotional reactions.

That sounds good, I would definitely like a relationship like that.

How did you make her realise that that was what you wanted> Or did you just talk to her about it?
Haha usually I find that guys I know are fairly responsible.

Alas! Have you managed to sort it out?? :S
I have not really bothered to yet. Being a student lets me get away with it.
Alas, although I am a student I just get people who are angry at me.
And wind up having to avoid people I've never met because they apparently want to punch me.
Which is desperately annoying.

Wait a few more years until you go to uni. Sleeping around and so on can be a part of the lifestyle.
Thank god! I cannot wait.
Going to uni this sept/oct. so not long now!!
Cool. Which one are you going to?
Imperial College London is where I want to go.
Where are you at uni?

Where else did you put down on your UCAS? I ruled out London entirely when I applied, it was not the sort of place for me.
Oh that sounds good. I nearly applied to Durham but for some reason I changed my mind at the last minute.
I applied to Oxford, Warwick, Bristol and Nottingham as well.
What are you studying?
Your lucky you didn't apply here, I guess, Durham is quite a ridiculous place. I do Natural Sciences, its basically a combined honours in Science degree...
Yourself?
I'm applying for Physics

Second year. I did a module in Physics last year, its an awful department to be a student in. Good choice not to apply here tbh.

It's called reverse psychology...
Oh, I've never really understood how that works ^^;;
In this case, he's basically saying he would *never* date someone like you, but then mentions "pretty face" which indicates he's most likely hitting on you... from what I know of LPP, probably without the intent of being serious...
Ahh, well I don't blame him. What with my gorgeous looks and keen wit.

I don't know this LPP chappy, as I don't know anyone yet.. ^^

You are never supposed to break up with anyone in a text message, well maybe not unless the REALLY did something very bad to tick you off. Just watch this Text Message Breakup video, lol
Oh golly! I didn't know it was such a big deal. :O I will take advice from the video.

well i didn't really break it off since there wasn't anything officially going on, i just stopped sleeping with her for a while. the way it started was we hooked up after a party, afterwards we were talking about relationships and thats when we both said we didn't want a relationship. it was a bit awkward at first, if you're not really sure how the other person feels it's somewhat difficult to tell them flat out that you don't want to be in a relationship with them, but we both felt the same way so it was fine.
p.s. you might want to delete the long list of quotes in your messages, it takes up a lot of space when you have that many in there.
edit: actually it was after the second time we hooked up that we talked about it. the first time i hooked up with her i had to wake up about two hours after we finished to go to a rowing competition. i wasn't supposed to race that day but someone didn't show up so they threw my hungover, tired butt in the boat... we lost.

Well that sounds like a good way to go about it. I'll try and subtly bring up relationships and say it. Admittedly I did try that the other time, but I think I stated it too explicitly and not at the right moment. ^^;;
Haha, I deleted the quote from last time and I shall remember to do that from now on! ^_^
That is really a bit of a nightmare for you

Look up the top trumps group on facebook, hilarious.

The Maths lecturer top trumps group??
That is actually amazing. Are you going to get the cards?? I defo would.

Haha Natural Sciences sounds like a good option if you can chop and change. I should have applied for it, doh! ^_^

Ah well, you can't be expected to do amazingly in that sort of condition!

i think you can go about it a bit better than to sleep with the guy and then say it afterwards, if he really was looking for a relationship then he might be a bit hurt. it gets easier in university since people sleep around more freely and it's not looked down upon as much as it is in high school (at least for girls), at lest when i was in high school girls who slept around at all were considered sluts, not sure how it is where you are. it shouldn't be too hard to find a guy who's willing to have a "no strings attached" casual relationship, just make sure he knows that's what he's getting into first so you don't come out looking like the bad guy (or girl) because he thought there was more to it.
as for the race, it was our annual race against our rival university in the same city. we row out of the same club, have the same coaches, and share the same equipment, hell we even share rowers sometimes (i felt so dirty wearing that Ottawa University shirt at trent this year) so it's not a very important competition. almost the same thing happened this year, funny story but i don't really want to hijack the thread, PM me if you want to hear it.
