I had an amazing Valentine's day. We exchanged little gifts, I took her out to dinner, came back and drank a little with friends, and then had the best sex I've ever had.

Aspie != single by default, people.

There is one other upside to Valentine's Day... it's not April Fool's Day.

Everyone has a default setting of "single," it's just that NT's tend to be more compatible with upgrades to that setting.

I've know some NTs that're still single for as long as I've known them.

My brother has never been much of a go getter and he seemed content for a while in being single. Last year's the only time I really saw him with a girl and they're still together.

I kind of wonder if going through people one by one as if they were cattle can make a relationship worse than better. Like getting into a certain mind set on how you exactly want your partner to behave and act. I remember going through those stupid dating sites and feeling like I wasn't much....like a competition. Plus you don't really know these people even when they do show interest in you.

The problem is, and is exacerbated by V-day is that the concept of a romantic relationship is seperated from friendship. Now, a bunch of literal Aspies will not easily connect the two. In reality the romantic side of the relationship is an extension of the friendship. Maintaining friendships are a lot easier, and if one develops into romance the sudden pressure to perform is not there, creating a safe haven for you express your emotions. Valin-frigging-tines day totally loses this part.

It sometimes seems like it, however.

Hey hey! I was right! Get this: yesterday, I got a date! I got her number and we're gonna get coffee or something. Guess my theory worked out. Especially considering this is the first time in half a year.

I played music for a social dance on Valentines day. It was no big deal for me though, because the more desireable women there were dancing with each other. The part that gets me EVERYtime though is the hot German woman who plays flute. She was interested in me the first time I met her but, by the second time, she was already married - Arrrrg!
