A joke:

Colleen's family was having a tough go of it during the current recession, so she decided to secretly take up the World's Oldest Profession to help make ends meet. Coming back to the house after a long weekend in Belfast, she handed her da an envelope full of money. He raised an eyebrow.

"And where would ya be getting all this?" he asked.

"Oh, father!" she teafully cried. "I've done something dreadful!"

When she told him what she'd done, her father started beating her with his shilleleagh and screaming the most vile and horrible curses at her in the names of all the saints he could think of. Her mum quickly intervened and put a stop to it before Colleen was seriously hurt.

"Such a horrible father!" shouted the missus. "After your precious daughter sacrificed her virtue just so that we'd all have food to eat and a roof to eat it under - being a prostitute may be a sin, but she did it for the family!"

The dad was stopped cold in his tracks. Grief stricken, he dropped the shilleleagh, got down on one knee, and laid his hand over his heart.

"Oh, 'prostitute', ya say?" he whispered. "By Saint Paddy; I swear I thought ya said 'protestant'!

4 out of the 5 women I have been with were prostitutes. I really only feel comfortable around them. With a prostitute, you don't have to worry about the social mores that are such issues with Aspies. You can talk about anything you want, including any "special interests", and they won't look at you funny. They also don't lead you on and give false signals. What you see is what you get.

I only feel comfortable around prostitutes. The hurt and rejection has been so compounded that at this point by non-prostitutes (a term I generally use in the same way we often use "neurotypical") that I will really only talk to them. In a social setting, I don't even bother talking to women anymore.

I think the best way to sum it up is that in my experience, a non-prostitute will take your money and your heart, whereas a prostitute will only take your money.

I am not trying to say anything derogatory, but that is just the way my life experience has been.

This isn't really the way I want it to be, but it's the way it is, and I have come to accept it.

[attack removed - M.] Prostitution should be illegal.

[attack removed - M.]

What did you write?

It is still my opinion prostitution is disgusting.

This isn't really the way I want it to be, but it's the way it is, and I have come to accept it.

I agree with some, but not all, of these statements. For me, seeing prostitutes on a semi-regular basis (once every two months) helped me interact with "free" women (those not in prostitution) much more easily. Knowing that I can get sex anytime I want by calling an escort agency makes friendly, non-sexual interactions with women much more pleasant, because I'm not thinking about sex when talking to a woman I just met. I can also enjoy things like hugs, cuddling, kisses on the cheek, and close dancing without becoming aroused. (This was not the case in my pre-prostitution days.)

I disagree that you don't have to worry about social rules when dealing with sex workers. There is still etiquette people need to follow when seeing an escort. Most escorts I saw had strict rules regarding clients' behavior; fortunately, those rules were clearly spelled out on the escort agency's website, so it was always perfectly clear what's expected. Aspies almost never have a problem with treating people nicely, and that's all that escorts require (besides paying the money) from their clients. And yeah, there are very few or no subtle unwritten rules that tripped up every aspie since the dawn of human civilization.

On the other hand, you're free to talk about any topic of your choice, as long as it doesn't offend anyone. One prostitute I saw actually used to be an intern for a major railroad, and got to ride in a locomotive. Since I'm into trains, we ended up talking about it for 20 minutes. She even admitted to me that I was her first client who enjoyed listening to the entire story.

The only guilt I feel about seeing escorts is the fact that they have to have sex with someone who looks repulsive (i.e. myself). But I make up for my appearance by treating them well, paying the money honestly, and not overstaying my time. So I do whatever I can to make sure she's comfortable with me, even if she's repulsed by my looks. While I can't make a difference about whatever stereotypes are out there, I make a difference about how she feels in my presence.

In the end, like DMark pointed out, it's not my ideal lifestyle; I'd much rather have sex with an attractive girlfriend. But with my looks and poor social skills, I have no right to insist on having a girlfriend, let alone a good-looking one. So prostitutes fulfill that role for now, and I'm not complaining.

I'm tall (6"3), muscular build, and wear nice clothes, yet I am doing the same thing as you are. When I see escorts they are always surprised I don't have a girlfriend. I can dress up and put some gel in my hair, but once we start talking things just crumble and they lose attraction to me. A man with bad social skills = terrible prospects with women. Period. Trust me, it's not your looks. On the other side, there are short pudgy balding guys with really good social skills who get laid all the time. Don't ask me how it works. Don't get me wrong though, looks matter (a man with good looks AND the social skills=swimming in p****), BUT, if all you have is the looks, it's like having a car with no keys.

I hear ya. Because of my social skills, I scare women off before they even have a clue who I really am. If they would just be a little more patient I could relax and be myself, instead of a bumbling idiot.

pointed out the rules again and again, but now i understand.
But i would like to say, i look at his avatar/profile and i
see nothing pointing to him being anything more then a
regular user, so how am i supposed to know then.

edit----
cleaned up some old arguments that theres no point
in mentioning here. Thanks to the mod for a very
polite pm.

So are you saying perpetually single men should rape women instead of hiring prostitutes?

No, they should hold out until they find a suitable partner.

No, they should hold out until they find a suitable partner.

Or take matters into their own hands and come up with their own solution.

I really think some people don't understand that masturbation is not sex and that masturbation alone isn't going to sate the same desires.

And drive themselves crazy in the process? Unmet sexual desire can do that to a person.

Unmet sexual desire will not drive a person crazy; obsessing or fixating on it can affect a person's stability. While masturbation is not sex, it's the best alternative you have by yourself. Prostitution is a topic that I am relatively ambivalent about; properly regulated, the risks can be minimized - if people can be honest with each other, then the social impact is lessened. But there is never justification for rape, Neant.

I think that some people understand sex only in theory...
