To be honest I actually thought that the purpose was to educate us on how to behave. Social conditioning.

It was the lack of paragraphs and consistent use of parenthesis that made me suspicious

After being questioned about my suspicion I've realised it's not actually that interesting and its not a big deal. I just notice patterns in things. Especially language related things.

I kinda like things to be real and straightforward too. It feels like cheating, but meh, it doesn't matter I suppose.

It is more that I haven't seen concrete examples of what you are talking about. So when I ask you say it is not interesting. :?

If there was sock-puppets being employed, this doesn't actually change the frequency of abusive/bigoted post over time, unless those sock puppets are themselves abusive/bigoted.

If it was so compulsive to make abusive/bigoted post wouldn't we be witnessing that too.

I mean it would be obvious if we suddenly had a flood of traffic to try an blanket the forum, that would be fairly easy to defect.

Also regardless, is it currently a more hostile environment? I think not.

There was a bad threads where the user, who seemed depressed, vented his frustration, in a way that pissed people off. He was not faultless but there was also others involved.

I think this great forum, and we shouldn't let problem like ruin it.

I think she's suggesting that old users are making new accounts to start threads that make L&D appear inoffensive until the heat is off. I would say that's paranoia except that I've seen people here (I'm not thinking of anyone in particular) go to great lengths to get their way and be right.

If you mean being inquisitive, not accepting what you are told at face value then then is a good thing. Everybody should do this, and they should encourage it in schools such as through formal debating. It shoudl not be something that is feared.

If you mean people who do think they are right, due to fundamental beliefs which they do not question and insist it is the only possibility then yes I agree.

In this discussion it is divided between those that want intervention I would consider over the top or draconian and those that don't think it is warranted as they fail to see evidence of any worsening.

A flood would be stupid because it would be obvious. Don't you know anything about the art of deception? :D

I'm referring to The. threads. By. Relatively. New. Users. It pretty bloody obvious which ones I mean. The threads on the first page made by relatively new users. I'm using my phone and it's too much hassle to bother linking to them.

If you don't agree it doesn't matter.

Well it does matter if you make a claim but don't back it up. I'm only asking to demonstrate what you claim.

If it doesn't matter why bring it up?

I know enough about the art of deception to know the propaganda works both ways.

All you need to to do is seed and idea, or introduce doubt.

That is precisely why I'm asking.

I feel like I'm backing it up by saying read the threads and judge for yourself.

That's ok.

I'm often suspicious of certain posts, especially with low post count.

However it is generally to do with subtle methods of promotion/spam, which is actually used as a tactic by manual spammers. I have been right before, but sometimes misjudge. Sometimes it is very grey area.

It's always quiet before the storm. More will probably come eventually.

Nope...not really quiet. There's a maelstrom over in the Woman's Discussion area.

There's a heated debate going on in Woman's Discussion.

But it's really not the type that gets the Mods involved.

My main problem with the PUA/nice guy/women owe us sex threads is that they divert attention away from threads where people ask for constructive advice, or are wanting to fix troubled relationships.
