i think the word mysogyny is thrown around here too much. Cause if those people complaining about women were trully mysogynistic then they wouldnt be looking for a girlfriend, no?

They'd likely have the attitude of "If a tree falls on a woman in the forest, what's a forest doing in the kitchen?" and unlike most guys who'd say that kind of thing it wouldn't be for laughs or to instigate with female friends, they'd actually mean it.

not what i meant. What i meant was a real misogynist would not try and go after a girlfriend. He'd be the type of person to try PUA crap for a quick lay and move on. Thats the type of person deserving of that label. Someone thats angry that they are not liked by women and tired of being a second class person is not a misogynist, thats just frustration speaking. I know cause im on the same boat as that. Women have done many bad things to me in the past, yet that hasnt delivered me to a life of hating women. Its delivered me into a life of self hatred for not being what women are wanting.

I think even with the PUA's you have more damaged and scorned than anything. Trick is for them to find a better avenue or the trend to implode on itself as any of these guys who have personalities or values at all realizing that thy have to sacrifice too much of themselves to bother with this kind of thing. If they're at least ethical enough to stick to women who are of the same ilk as they are I won't judge that, however if they are actively hurting innocent bystanders and create more jaded and bitter women who otherwise wouldn't be - yeah, guys like that do need to be dealt with.

I totally agree. That's been my experience being single & looking. Women liked me as a friend that they could turn to for emotional support when they were having problems with guys who were being mean to em. I was accused of being a misogynist on other forums when I spoke up about it in my frustration over being used & hurt & getting looked over by women in favor of guys who were mean or abusive to em. I didn't hate women in general but I hated the way some were treating me & being accused of being hateful when speaking out just made me even more frustrated about women & things

Always been the "brother" here as well- but then again, I've never felt ready to consider going "out there" as have had a lot of work to do on me first...

I internalised a LOT of guilt first time around during the Dworkin era...

Could you point me toward some of those interviews? That sounds interesting.

I think men and women are pretty equal when it comes to gender disadvantages. But I think you hear less about men's issues because men are trained by society to behave in a stoic fashion. And because so many of us are brought up being taught to "let the girl win."

You're kidding, right? There's an entire intenet full of ragey men talking about how screwed they are.

Chances of getting a reply are slim to nil considering that post was from three years ago. I wonder what his opinion would be on the subject now anyway.
