That is true -- one of the fundamental characteristics of AS is that any social skills you pick up are, fundamentally, an act. It can be a good act, but it's still an act. I can live with that, but sometimes it annoys me how NTs can socialise all they like and still have boundless energy, while I feel like crap if I overstretch myself (for example, if I have to 'keep it together' in an unexpected, uncomfortable social situation).
