GroovyDruid, I honestly never was into the game thing....but I know plenty men who are. Maybe it's you who want the games, and is having a hard time finding a woman who either dosn't want to play your games or dosn't want to play by the rules your game(s). F.Y.I I got married at 23.

Oh man, I just have to say it:

Did you think that up all by yourself, or were there others?

It's an oldie but a goodie, Druid. I believe someone first passed on that little jewel to me about 35 years ago. And it's very true. You spend all your time playing games with people, that's all you're going to have in the end. And if you EXPECT that everyone is out to play a game on you, then that is most likely what you will find to be true.

And if you can't spot those kind of games from a mile away after a bit, you pretty much deserve what you get. "Even an Aspie" can learn from experience.

There's a time to stop using being an Aspie as a crutch to explain failures in interpersonal relationships. If all you see are people playing games, perhaps it's not the other people who you should be focusing your analytical skills on. Perhaps it's someone a bit closer to you. 8)

Well said Paula.

That I will agree with. As much as I've seen people make poor decisions about who they will date, some people do become more mature as they get older. The girl who dated a loser at age 16 can and does become more mature and moves on by age 18. I've seen that scenario too, and I admire those people who do become more mature.

The same thing happened to me with this guy I met in my twenties. I found him with what was then one and only female "friend" ... Even though I was about thirty pounds lighter than him, I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and threw him down a long flight of stairs. You could almost hear the bongo drums going as he fell. He got up and I chased him out onto the lawn. The last I saw of him he was running down the street.

I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. You'll have to rephrase that in an aphorism. :D

Oh, I see where you're going with this now. It's relativism. Essentially, "You're perception can't be right, because you made it, and you have a fixed viewpoint. Ergo, your perception is flawed."

The other, sublter, tactic you seem to be leveraging is ageism. Essentially, "Someone said something to be a long time ago, which means I'm old, old, old--too old not to have seen everything and made all the mistakes there are to make, and even some that weren't there to make, but I made them anyway, and it was pretty far out .... Ergo, your wrong."

Well, in the light spirit of dialectic and banter, I say this to both those "isms":

BEEEE ESSSSSSS.

I totally reject the idea that I am looking for games, and therefore finding them. What if you are trying to see through games, and therefore seeing through them? See, that gets us nowhere. We're people, and we've got viewpoints, so that's not productive.

Also, you are assuming two flawed premises: (1) That I am relying for my observations on personal eperience (which I'm not) and (2) That "games" are synonymous with "manipulation." ERRR number two.

Blast me eyes, you're right! I see it now. It's all in my head! I need to start scraping the inside of my skull, and pretty soon, I'll doubt myself, my perceptions, and my viewpoint so much that I won't argue with my elders any more. I'll be totally tractable!

Then I can start psycho-analysis. 8)

Groovydruid, it isn't that we become so much wiser as we grow older, it's just that it all becomes a bit repetitious, and then we run out of energy.

As far as us women are concerned, we may as well talk to brick walls for, in my experience, men NEVER understand us or what we want and we are generalised.

I've heard men say before now that loads of women 'like men who treat us mean' i.e are a**holes. If this be the case, why do we protest against such creatures?

Some men say that all women like to play games. We don't all play games, some of us do, the words 'some' and 'all' had different meanings last time I checked. I'm one of those women who doesn't play games but is honest (mind you, this must be a riddle for some men, never mind a game eh?)

I am very weary of relationships now as I've been hurt emotionally way too often by lies and false promises (it wasn't women who did this to me, it was men!). When a man says you mean something to him it means jackshit because they are fickle and will love someone else next week or they start taking you for granted. I have heard the 'I care about you' etc lines way too much now with no meaning attached to them that I now prepare myself for the fact that when a bloke I really like does say that to me, he isn't actually going to mean it. I've heard it all before and I don't tolerate BS anymore. At least this way I have a lot less chance of ever getting hurt again. Despite this I reckon I'm a happy enough person.

Although that sounds like a generalization itself, I'm not going to make a big deal about it because I'm not sure I have seen men understand women. I'm not exactly very social, so that doesn't really mean much :P

The problem is that in general men are bastards, and women are twits. Men have trouble understanding women because they're so confusing, and most of them aren't really all that interested in understanding them.

Some of your gender are hormone driven freaks that control themselves and pretty much just flail about randomly. You know, sort of like men. While they might not like it, some women just keep on at it.
I feel sorry for women like that AND the a**holes. (Those asses probably have some serious emotional problems)

Many of them are playing games without having a clue what they're doing. Women that are more emotionally stable aren't nearly as bad.

Most men (like most women) seem to not be worth being around. Hormone driven, Shallow, and with minimal thought.

Hey, I just had an idea. Maybe near the start of a relationship, we should all try to gauge how deep the other party can be. Not entirely sure how specifically to do that. The idea of asking 'What do you think the meaning of life is?' comes to mind, but that has some obvious problems.

Should work well on both genders :P That in combination that with some kind of effective "Jerk" test should help rule out people.

Don't get me wrong, eliminate all the people that are shallow or jerks and the pickings get pretty slim, but their aren't really that many people worth having a relationship with to begin with :P

You know, this whole thread has become on side firing a salvo at the other back and forth. Fiz, you are right. These are all generalizations. However, no one side is better than the other. The guys are bringing it down to their lowest denominator (strategy against the "tricky" women -- encouraged by the anger of rejection) and the women aren't far behind (pleading about how they've been hurt by the "evil" men -- also encouraged by the anger of rejection).

All of this is needless blame. And blame is a useless reaction. It produces no good in any activity once it goes beyond a simple acknowledgement -- The only appropriate one being "I screwed up right here..." As long as we blame other people, we aren't fixing what is broken or getting back into the action.

It still comes down to individuals. It's about a good match. It's about a certain mutual understanding about the level of communication. Relationships aren't easy and both people have to do a lot of things right to make it work or it all falls apart. A simple miscued perception can kill everything. Even the most successful daters face a horrid ratio of failure to success. It's enough to make anyone bitter. Through blame or self-defeat, we all stand to lose in the same fashion...

I think the biggest opponent we face in this arena is not the opposite sex, but ourselves.

(Note to Fiz, this wasn't aimed at you. I genuinely respect your point. I was just bouncing off that point, aiming at the thread whole thread; If you read back, you begin to see a pattern and it was quite honestly starting to make me sick. )

phoenixjsu, I see that are either right or mostly right.

I see that a lot of people not only that fit the stereotypes, but go out of their way to. (This applies to so many things.)

But as evidenced by my last post I'm pretty cynical. (I generally like being wrong.) That being said, I do give individuals the benefit of the doubt.

You can improve yourself as much as you want, but if everyone around you are a bunch of idiots it's not going to help.

What helps is that you stop going after idiots.

And improve yourself.

Above all, women want to play games. (Which is hilarious, because women swear up and down they hate games and wish someone would just be real...) Respect is antithetical to playing the game well. If you show deference or esteem, you are acknowledging that you are playing by a woman's rules, i.e., you've already lost, and you become about as interesting as a chair. Women tell you they want to have the control that respect gives them, but they actually go home with the guy who acts like he doesn't care, and even makes a few pointedly disrespectful remarks to show he's in control, and you can go to heck if you don't like it. Those guys get to pick and choose their women.

EXACTLY. I've said before that this is at the root of why relationship abuse is such an epidemic throughout society. Women are marching in the streets saying that they will not accept abuse from boyfriends/husbands, and of course that is a good thing to do since it is wholly unacceptable for men to abuse their partner. However, women secretly crave disrespect, and they strive to find the worst, most disrespectful guy they can find. It could involve Canadian relationship murder victim Laura Wilson driving four hours to pick up a guy in prison that had expressed interest in her back in high school. Statistics show that many women choose to remain in abusive relationships, and in the case of Laura, got into one after her soon-to-be prisoner boyfriend wrote her from prison and told her that it would be all over for her if she ever cheated on him. But don't tell the feminists, because despite court evidence and a guilty plea from the guy, that didn't happen.

Quote:
Another thing women want that goes against respect is romance. Women want to be seduced, and seduction is a lie. It can be a harmless one, depending on the circumstance, but it's NEVER respectful. Women want and expect that lie, and they brutally reject any man who can't supply it.

BANG ON again. I already knew that after some idiot women told me I was "too inexperienced" after they asked me how many women I had kissed previously. One of them told me this the day after telling me that inexperience was okay with her.

Yet, women are saying that they want guys to ask them permission before kissing them, or they outright say they don't want to be kissed.

Women keep saying that they want to move slowly. But from my observations, it never happens that way. If you wait too long, you lose your chance. Waiting too long shows a lack of "confidence", that thing that women arbitrarily decided they want from men.

One of the chief problems in society is that there are a few bad apples among women that have put men that show a slight amount of affection for them through the shredder. THAT is why some guys lack confidence - some women misuse their power. Once I touched a young woman on the shoulders at work, in the lunchroom. Without telling me the action was unwelcome, she reported it to management, whom despite telling me not to do it again, they admitted that it was a pretty stupid thing to report.

The question is, how does one seduce a woman without hitting her or touching her breasts? I'm not looking to get into bed, but nonetheless I want to seduce her.

And, what the hell is so great about having a sense of humour? I don't see any need for it. I'm British and get along just fine without being around humourous people 18 hours a day. A funny remark on the radio in the morning and an episode of The Simpsons in the afternoon is enough for me. I'm a utilitarian and humour doesn't have a purpose. It is purely entertainment and has no depth. The desire of it in a relationship is extremely shallow and there are far more important things for women to look for.

I came to realize some years back that looks and money have nothing to do with who women want. It's all about in-your-face overconfidence, an excessive sense of humour 168 hours a week that leaves no room for serious stuff, and above all, showing disrespect. As extreme as it may sound, abuse can have women coming back for more because although they do not like being hurt, they like the confidence being shown by the guy - and that is highly seducing.

Not all women are this way. But, at least 80% of them are.

I don't even have to read your post to know what it says. Several dumb generalizations about women. Women always go for the wrong guys, and it's never the guy's fault. Some news story about a woman who went for the wrong guy, even though those type of idiots are the minority, all women are gonna get lumped into that category by you. Some quote from a radio host or one of your female friends. Am I wrong so far?

You're right, Aspie_Chav, I do find that my relationship with an aspie male is the best ever. I was never attracted enough to NT men enough to marry one because they were all successful in the NT world and I was not successful in that world. I never wanted to be in a relationship with someone who had way more power in the world than I did. I was never interested in being someone's concubine or kept woman. That would be disgusting. So, I ended up with an aspie who has as many, if not more, issues than I do dealing with the NT world. It works for us.

At least you didn't apply your situation with other aspie women. I still think that it's a sad thing that if someone is successful in the world then you think you're weaker than them. I may have everything under the moon wrong with me, and I'm not successful but I am nowhere near to being weak.

I didn't mean to suggest that I was weaker, or that aspie men are weaker.

I meant that I find I have more in common with an aspie man than with NT. I don't seem to fit well with NT men because their interests and behaviors are often at odds with mine. I find NT behavior illogical. I can't believe in their beliefs. For example, there was this one fellow who was a book publisher. He published books about Aboriginal people. Apparently he was besotted with me. I think he was besotted with me because HE perceived me as weaker but whatever...The point is that I did not agree with his worldview on many things. For example, he was successful and hired successful white male writers to go into the interior and write about Aboriginal culture. This was how he made his living. I couldn't understand him at all. What on earth was the point in hiring successful white men to write about Aboriginal people? If he wanted to advance their cause wouldn't it make more sense to hire Aboriginal people to write about Aboriginal people? He also paid for environmentalists to travel the world to write about environmental issues. I couldn't see the logic in this. If you want to save the environment why would you pay for environmentalists to fly here there and everywhere on aircraft that on one single trip spew way more pollution into the air than an average person will spew in a lifetime? I perceived his life as one big contradiction in logic.

This is just one example where NT men and I have not got on very well together. I find that most
(not all, but most) NT men are mired in a culture that is often exploitive and, in the final analysis, not healthy for people who have differences. I perceive that often, NT men have lives that are essentially comprised of a great striving for success, and yet so devoid of logic and meaning.

To be honest, I have met two NT men who I did not perceive to be like this in their interaction with me. Two, just two.

Does that help to explain what I meant?
