Come to think of it, sexbots would be great for gender relations.

Guys would be able to relate to women in a manner that completely takes sex out of the equation. There'd be no more waiting orbiters and no more frustrated "nice guys".

Relationships could be a lot more honest.

Not all nice guys are looking for sex thou. Some like me are looking for love. Unless the robots have emotion chips; I'm not interested

Don't even call yourself a "nice guy". More accurate description is "provision-centric mating strategy".

As for the emotion chips, certain key phrases and body language routines that trigger emotional responses could be programmed in.

What do you mean by "provision-centric mating strategy" :?: You tend to make lots of valid points Ricky but I don't think I agree with you on this

Ever heard the term "Madonna-Whore Complex"? The flip side of it "Lover-Provider Complex" Lover means Man who is strong wild and passionate. Provider means a man who is sweet and doting towards his partner. Most men fall somewhere between the two.

It would be about as inwardly satiating as a bag of heavily salted potato chips and a two liter of Diet Rite.

Why not come up with robots that we can program to go to the office for us and generate a paycheck every other week? IMO that would be a much better application of the technology.

I love the way you said this! :)

As for me, I'm always highly attracted to guys who are similar to me, so I probably wouldn't say no to a clone of myself, though it would be guaranteed to be a relationship rife with awkwardness! Really, though, I'd take a robot any day. I have a running joke with my friends about how a robot would be my perfect man, and when I was younger, my brother even told me he'd build me a robot husband. Someday, such things will be possible. Here's hoping it's soon... Keeping the dream alive!

At the worst humanity might start acting like a bunch of trust fund brats, Jersey Shore could multiply, but - I wouldn't be one of those. With things in the world like music, languages, martial arts, mentalism books, P90x, motorcycles and quads, sailing skives, etc. I could likely keep myself very busy for a long time.

I mean although it would not be human it would look and act just like one (but without free will) to the point that if you did not know that it were a robot you would just think that 'she' were a real live human.

In fact you'd even be able make it into your 'perfect' man/woman as it will have been man made!

Or if you were to have a clone that could not have the mental capastay to reject you no matter how badly you treated her/him would you still love him/her?

As it happens I have a (human) gf so this is not a case of me moping about me being single (for the simple reason that this is no longer the case) but I was just wondering as to what others may think on this matter.

Goodbye Till Next Time.

P.S. To extend the range of this subject would any of you out there fall in love wit some one who was with you as he/she felt that they had to be with you? (ala an arranged marriage)

I do not think I could love something like an android even if it looked human how would it look when friends and family come over to visit and sitting on the couch is your android companion? It would be like leaving a sex toy out for everyone to see or porn left out to be stumbled upon. As for the clone how could I love someone who is being forced to love me or even worse so mentally slow it does not know any better but to love me because she was told to be some clone engineer. A clone without the mental capacity decide for themselves that sounds like a child or an adult with diminished mental abilities if you ask me its creepy and slavery boardering on abuse.

Why not? Provided the robot is realistically programmed.

The polynesian & pacific islander cultures have a traditional system where the families matchmake a union that, with the consent of the couple, takes place for a determined period of time (usually 2 years). Its not a binding marriage but more of a 'live together as if married' arrangement. During that time the couple can decide if they want to stay together or move on.

If its in that kind of arrangement then yes. But forced (socially or by force itself) ? hell no. thats even more disturbing.
