Did the opening poster ever say that her boyfriend was diagnosed? If so, I missed that.

Ok, she just happened to date an ordinary sex-obsessed abusive moron.

Sounds like you're ignorant of basic sociological terminology, TBH...

I'm a woman who's romantically attracted to men, and sexually attracted to no one.

"Heteroromantic asexual" is the correct terminology.

I'm going out on a limb and on ASP-Z side this time around. I didn't see his original comment as rude or insulting you one bit. Nor did I see it as some kind of form of "ignorant" statement. I too would make a comment, not because I'm ignorant or dumb or whatever, but because it is a funny word. Are we no longer allowed to point out funny words?

I think the person who started not so polite comments was yourself. I saw nothing wrong with Asp-z post.

On to the topic.....

Why should you be worried? You've known each other for a while, correct. No dating doesn't just mean sex, but obviously he's making you aware that he wants to extend the relationship further. Sex isn't just some dirty thing. Its a connection. A chemical and physical connection. And all though yes, sex shouldn't encompass the whole entire relationship. But, sex should be part of a normal healthy, growing relationships.

IMO.

All though I haven't had sex myself, I can still carry some thoughts on it I do hope.

Thank you! Some people are too quick to jump to conclusions where there really is no issue. All I did was say I thought a phrase sounded silly, jeez.

You're welcome. I know, because I would have done the same. And I know as myself that if I did before you...it was because I was expressing something I just realized or noticed or a passing thought, not really there to offend, but rather to share the passing thought before it fades. It shouldn't have turned out to be a battle between members over someone expressing a passing thought.

Precisely. This is one of very few places I feel I can express myself properly, including passing thoughts. As you say, there shouldn't be a big argument over something so trivial.

If a man asks his date/prospective girlfriend when they are going to have sex, it's pretty obvious that he's not interested in her as a girlfriend, but as a sex toy.

Well, no, you said it sounded "stupid" and you defended that stance in an additional comment. "Stupid" is just as loaded of a word as "ignorant", so if we are supposed to believe that "stupid" = "silly", then you must accept that someone calling you "ignorant" = "lacking knowledge about the subject" and that there was no conclusions jumping at all. Maybe you can now see why words are important.

Not at all. Nearly all relationships involve sex, and if your partner shows aversion to it, you may ask about the subject to see if there are any problems with need to be addressed.

I said the phrase sounded stupid. Because, in my mind, it did. I was merely sharing a passing thought. If I'd said something like, "asexuality doesn't exist", your comment calling me ignorant may very well be justified. But that wasn't what I said at all.

The problem is that he obviously tried to get her into bed.

She should have ridiculed the moron in public.
