Is a nice relationship better than a rollercoaster one?
In the sense that I believe that a strong relationship is based in two people who are overcoming obstacles together and moving forward together, I believe that slight arguments can strengthen a relationship, as long as you can let it go eventually.
I am also an individual who dislikes conflict the majority of the time, but I have been known to keep things to myself and then just get really upset about something little and be really flustered. For me, a relationship is one where my partner can accept my shortcomings and still love, work with me despite them.
I personally prefer a steady relationship built on trust and mutual respect, one where there is an understanding that I am human, they are human, we will make mistakes, say things we don't mean, and gracious forbid even do wholly stupid things at times. I also, appreciate the value of passion in so much that, when I love someone, I should love them strongly, intensely, and fully.
However, I believe that there is this -in my opinion- misconception about how passion and attraction should really operate. To me, I am pansexual, I am only attracted based on personality, so my love for someone is strongly rooted in who they are as a person, how we treat one another, and the actions we take to show our appreciation, affection. Some people only relate passion with sexual intimacy, physical attraction, and what the other person does FOR you. I believe this is a very harmful way of looking at relationships and can easily lead to distrust and instability.
And on a last note, in any relationship, communication is king. Couples who communicate in some way -from what I have observed- are more likely to stay together despite the hassles they face in day to day life.
