Begging your pardon, but I think most men know exactly what women look like without makeup and without their hair done. I've lived with women, been close friends with women, was raised by (mostly) women and, trust me, have seen them without their makeup and without their hair done. I can easily tell the difference between light "natural" looking makeup and an actual bare face. And guess what? I still prefer women without makeup.

I'm sorry that you feel obligated to wear it. But you don't get to discount men's stated preferences just because they don't fit what you think men like.

Well, when people talk about attractiveness, they are usually referring to sexual attractiveness. Given that, I don't think it's such a bad thing that men are sexually attracted to women who look like they'd enjoy some sex. I mean, it sure beats being turned on by women who wouldn't enjoy it.

Sure, there will be some men who can tell, and some women who look more obviously lacking makeup. I just believe that lots of men (not all) cannot tell because there are many "tricks" involved with makeup, and one particular "look" is "to look as though you have no makeup on at all".

It'd be interesting to see a World where no makeup exists at all, and how different everyone would look :)

Just because a woman may not make herself LOOK like she enjoys sex, doesn't mean she doesn't, though. In fact, it often means that she has a lot more going on in her World which could make her good for... hmm.. I dunno... some good conversation as WELL as good sex. And often the most intelligent women are the sexiest in the bedroom...

Rich men often dress down while arrogant, not-so-rich men present themselves as though they are rich.

Don't be fooled. A woman who portrays herself as enjoying sex doesn't necessarily enjoy it. She may simply enjoy being "popular" and attracting attention, and when it actually comes down to it, is pretty boring behind closed doors.

I get frustrated that it appears the World only values women who look good and are available sexually. Note that I am not saying that sex is bad, I am saying I get frustrated that it seems to be the MAIN/ONLY thing that is important to the World.

What aesthetic criteria indicate a man would (or wouldn't) enjoy sex?

So, then,
*being male
*wearing makeup
connote wanting/enjoying sex.

Does that mean men who wear eyeliner are the most sexed of us all?

I think that that it's the women who are the worst critics of women, we dress for women, we put make up on for women, etc. I don't doubt that men certainly appreciate the effort but it's the women who are judge and jury. We are hardest on each other and therefore we find ourselves feeling inadequate and unattractive.

It's the men that prefer us bare faced or...just bare...

the stereotype would indicate they are gay, and that stereotype would indicate that they would get a lot of sex. Gay sex though

It could be argued that women dress and put on make up "for other women"
because we're constantly, competitively sizing one another up for attractiveness,
in the same way men want to get muscular and look more ripped than the next guy,
because that's what women (supposedly) want.

I would imagine men in the West who truly prefer a woman with no makeup, unshaven, in baggy clothes (men don't have to, under pain of being thought slovenly, maintain hairless bodies encased in skintight clothing!) are few and far between.

i'm pretty sure most can tell. At the very least, they can tell on the faces of the women they see regularly.

true. But when trying to find a sexual partner, I'm gonna approach the ones who are advertising their interest in sex. It's just a better bet. And you seem to assume (referring to the bolded part here) that those women who do try to signal their sexual availability are less intelligent or have less going on in their lives.

yeah i think they can tell if they know the women well. but on many threads on WP where some members post pictures of females they find attractive, the men who post "natural" women with "no" makeup don't seem to realise how much makeup those women actually have packed on.

to others: i have also noticed how hard women can be to each other. i was shocked at Jenna Marbles' take on "slu*ty" hallowe'en outfits. i expected her to diss girls who dress up like that, but her video shamed me into realising how judgemental i can be. she encouraged women to support each other and not hate on each other for how they choose to dress. i actually listened to what she had to say, and i took it to heart.

It's telling when a woman has to perform XYZ beauty practice to be thought of as a sexual being. 8O

She said

Quote:
These days it appears "attractive" is based around whether a woman looks like she enjoys having sex or not

and that was what I was responding to. I stated very clearly that I prefer a more natural look. and that, when looking for a sexual partner, I go for the ones who advertise their sexual availability (in other words, look like they enjoy having sex).

So clearly, for me at least, looking like she ejoys sex is not directly related to beauty practices. And my taste in women is not that far off from most of the guys I've known.
