Honestly she still goes on about it, like my nephew who is blond, there was a time when it wasn't quite clear what colour hair he would have, and when people would say he had reddish hair, and she would hit the roof.

In the US I don't remember ever hearing people say bad things about red hair or referring to them as gingers.

Yup... Britain.... an entire nation filled with innumerable people who think that ginger is red.... when it plainly isn't.
... who take the piss for no good reason, and then when you get past a certain age they start trying to dye their hair red (and often end up with green instead LOL).
