Lenghty exposure to sun without water or some protective cream is also...not so healthy.

I took out the bit in my response that said "no, there are no pics of that", guess I should have left it in.

Well it's not too hard to put sunscreen on and get under a tree when you are hiking. I wouldn't assume that just because someone is hiking, that they are not taking sun protection measures. Quite the opposite. It's more the ones baking at the beach or pool that I'd be concerned about.
