She was criticizing him for expressing his beliefs. Sorry if I overreacted.

I don't care for gay marriages. I was told it's not okay because it violates our constitutional rights but I saw it today in the World Alamanic for Kids and I read the 10 commitments and it did not say anything in there about gay marriages so I don't know what the guy was talking about. I wonder if he has even seen it himself or was he just told it. I believed him till today.

It's none of our damn business of who gets married and it makes me mad when others butt into their business by saying gay marriages is wrong. Good thing my uncles' fled this country.

In the recent gubernatorial elections here in Texas, Kinky Friedman (one of the candidates) said we should legalize it because "they have every right to be as miserable as we do"--probably referring to the fact that 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

By the way, Rick Perry, the conservative Republican, won re-election.

wait...i'm confused...you don't like gay marriages but you don't think it's any of our business who gets married...is that what you said?

That's what she said. And I am not the least bit confused. The way I interpreted her remarks, she said she doesn't like gay marriage personally but sees no reason why it shouldn't be legal.

As a parallel example, I fully support the legalization of marijuana even though I don't use it myself, nor would I start using it if it became legal.

I never said I didn't like them. Wouldn't I have said that if I didn't? (unless you tried reading between the lines, if you did, you read wrong because there was no hidden words) I said I don't care for them. Meaning I don't care if they marry. Doesn't bother me. It's their own business.

My opinion: Everyone was born with a free mind and a freedom to choose and it's not up to me what people do with their own freedom. I am sure anyone who is homosexual is sick and tired of hearing people say "It's not right", "it's not natural", "Men and women were made to reproduce, so people of the same sex shouldn't be together..." all that stuff...it's said so much that I kind of laugh whenever people say it. Do they expect that someone who is gay will see it and say "Wow! I never thought of that! I'd better be straight because this just isn't right!"

I've also heard people say that "even if they can legally marry, in the eyes of God they will not be married." But here's the thing...I don't think they care, it's about legal rights, not having a church wedding and being married in the eyes of God. Married people have different legal rights because they are legally considered family. I wouldn't like not being able to get updates on the medical condition of my partner of 10 years from the hospital...or having no legal rights over children who called me "mommy"

And to the "it makes a mockery of real marriage" statement. Well to me, us straight people are doing a fine job of making a mockery out of marriage already...with our high divorce rates, cheating and spousal abuse the idea that the marriages of today are a sacred and holy union is just an illusion. How many people have had many multiple sexual partners before meeting their spouse? I don't view homosexual sex as any more "dirty" or "wrong" than this premarital sex...it's recreational, and done with absolutely no intention of starting a family. (And don't get me wrong, I do not agree with promiscuity. I am nearly 23 and a virgin who has dumped guys *because* they wanted to have sex within a few dates)

I'm not saying that people who have such "holy unions" don't still exist...but they're rare. And they are fooling themselves if they think the idea of sacred marriage is not already mocked. Plus, they've got to be pretty insecure of their own marriages to find two people who have nothing to do with them( and who they don't even see married in the eyes of God)
threatening

I am straight, I am Christian-but I think this is a legal issue, not a church one.

Leviticus does say that you shouldn't lie with a man as you would a woman, but you know what Jesus also says? DO NOT STAND IN THE WAY OF SINNERS.

Basically, Christianity is telling you to A) believe in God, B) live your life as the bible sees fit, and C) leave non-Christians alone because that's God's department, not yours you filthy child of God.

And yet people who liberally call themselves "Christians" continue using scripture as leverage to try to force their lifestyles on the rest of the country.

Unless someone can argue logically how what I've just said is incorrect, anyone who fights, argues, murders, lobbies, does anything to try to stop homosexuality on grounds that it is sinful, has defied Jesus and failed as a Christian.

I love it when people use the Bible like this. The problem is that there are so many contradictions iin that piece of literature that you can pull whatever meaning you want to believe.

I don't really think the gay marriage is normal, but it's not wrong.

e.g. It's not something I'd want to do, but if it would make two gay people happy to get married, then they can, and I am not against that.

It would be a lot more normal if it existed in more places.

I hate it when people say that homosexuallity is'nt natural. Guess what? Computers are'nt natural! TVs are'nt natural! Cars are'nt natural! Most of the food we eat is'nt natural! If you're seriously opposed to something as "unnatural" as homosexuallity, you may as well be opposed to all the things that are unnatural!
