It revealed how much you actually intend to change, I think.

What did you have in mind?

Rather than take the responsibility away from yourself to deal with the situation by asking a question, I would simply follow the advice at its simplest face value.

Look at it like science. You try an experiment, you get a result. If you aren't happy with the result, why would you repeat the same experiment over and over to achieve the same result? Alter the conditions, the environment, the prerequisites for a satisfactory outcome.

How do you even know whether I'm trying different things or not?
