I was in a book shop for the first time in a year (!) (yay!) and I saw a book called "Imagine the World without Email!" or something like that. It was like this was a revolutionary concept. Obviously it would be hard to go backward, but it made me sad to think many young people don't even know that world. They never lived in a time when people had to telephone each other, with their parents in the next room, or ask people out in person instead of by text. Of course prior to that there were generations that didn't even have telephones. It must be really hard to build social confidence when there's almost always a screen or some sort of anonymity between people who are seeking relationships.

I don't blame the internet for the fact that most people use it selfishly instead of for learning.

One reason that isn't being talked about is online dating.

It's harder for men to get matches, go on dates, and to get laid. In a nutshell, because women are getting much more matches compared to men, they are much more picky about who they choose to meet up with. This leaves many guys with very little matches and very few dating opportunities, especially if the guy is average or below average looking.

Also, with the rise of online dating, women are having many more options to choose from and aren't just limited to their social circle to meet guys. Back in the 1980s, you might have stood a chance with that stunning blonde at work you have a crush on because your only competition was maybe 3 or 4 other guys in her social circle. Nowadays, that same stunning blonde is going on Tinder and has 100+ men trying to hit her up and as a result, you don't stand a chance with her because she's got far better options to choose from with her online dating profile.

Online dating was supposed to make dating easier but has paradoxically, made it harder. The only people who benefit from online dating are women and good looking men.

The only romantic relationship I have ever had formed and developed because of the existence of the internet. This was before social media and wasn't created from a dating platform. The internet is a boon so long as it is not abused and misused. People are the problem, not the tool.

I've been a viewer of Vowsh for a while now and am pleasantly surprised to see this video that I just watched being talked about on here too. I think his take is pretty good. Late capitalism has created a hella atomized society, it's hard to meet people.

The days of plain-looking men getting dates with good-looking women are far from over; but if all of your hopes are pinned on being that one man out of tens of thousands upon which a bikini model swipes right, then you are setting yourself up for failure.

Instead, you should work on: (1) Improving yourself, (2) Extending your horizons, and (3) Lowering your expectations.

Or maybe just accept the fact that you will always be alone and work on maxing out your Blood Elf Paladin in WoW.

We need to talk about another problem that may be contributing to male virginity being on the rise.

Internet porn

Internet porn can sap men's motivation to go out and pursue real women because porn gives men an easy way to get their sexual needs met without putting in the hard work and effort to pursue real women who will oftentimes reject them. Why go to the bar and talk to that 10/10 blonde who will likely reject you anyways, when you can go watch some porn of a 10/10 blonde who would never reject you? Porn is easier and will never reject you, unlike real women.

One reason why men pursue women is because they're horny and are trying to get their sexual needs met. You think a girl is hot, you are sexually attracted to her, and this is your motivation to go and ask her out. But if you're already getting your sexual needs met from watching tons of porn, now you're not as motivated to pursue real women. And if you're not pursuing real women, you're probably staying single, unless your lucky enough to have a girl approach you first.

We never had a telephone until the latter part of the 1980's when we moved and it was a few miles involving a steep hill to walk to and from the nearest phone box.

The thing is that even average looking women are getting much more matches and dating opportunities compared to average looking men. A woman who's objectively a 5 or 6 is going on Tinder and is still getting plenty of matches and male attention. A man who's a 5 or 6 is going on Tinder and having a hard time even getting matches, let alone going on a date. The point is that there is no gender equality in online dating; women hold all of the advantage.

Your statement would be true however for below average looking women. Girls who are clearly overweight and objectively ugly are probably struggling, but this is the bottom 10% of women. If you're in the top 85% of women looks-wise, you're going to get dates with very little difficulty. That's just the way it works.
