We both had to do some "processing" of this imminent event, as it's been a long time coming, and was delayed once, thus far.

We've spent many hours on the phone, have been in a couple of video chats, and write back and forth in various ways. I do feel that we've come to know each other quite well, but of course the in-person thing is considered vital, by most people.

Our individual life experiences are very disparate. As you might imagine, we both have our various issues to varying severity, and they differ in some ways. But in general, I'd say that our minds at this point in our lives are very much "simpatico" in the way that we understand ourselves (limited!), and in the way that we understand others (even more limited?!?).

Our "hopes and dreams", such as they are, would be considered very minimalist by most, in the tangible realm. But we both share an enduring passion to learn new things about Life, The Universe, and Everything. This can be done while living a very small life, by modern standards.

(Eventually) escaping from the many obligations and burdens of a conventional life is appealing, and we have both experimented along such lines in our pasts, to some degree. But it remains to be seen if we're both up to this, and whether the mutual support that we can offer each other will aid in achieving this sort of pseudo-freedom...
