I'd rather hear that than something ambiguous... at least then I would know exactly where I stand... plus, just about every guy on the planet has been calling me an ugly ret*d twat anyway, so I don't see why girls shouldn't either (if they really think that...)

2. It used as a 'sh**-test'.
ie. to sort out the wussies from the potential partners that they may be looking for. Some girls do not want a wuss who will just back down at the first opportunity.
If a girl says, "i have a boyfriend". You may wish to consider replying something along the lines of, "yes, but i don't want to meet him, do i."
Do it with some humour else you have zero chance.

Sorry, if this has been said before in the other responses. I cant be bothered reading any of them.

This stems back to the fact that I still can't read minds... If I could, that would make things so much easier... At least guys are direct when it comes to this stuff, as compared to women who are just so deceptive to the point that it annoys the hell out of me...

O well, the world isnt going to change for you.
Keep perservering, good luck.

The worst is when you fancy a guy and he says I have a boyfriend. Thats happened to me many times.

Hey this has given me a great idea for us Guys,
when ever you are talking to a girl, mention your girlfriend, even though you have never had one in your life,
this will straightaway make the girl interested in you as she feels there must therefore be something very attractive about you that she has missed,

Better still say, "one of my girlfreinds"

Even if this puts them off you, be honest, you wouldnt have got anywhere with her anyway, so why not have a bit of fun, and push up your street cred!

Shes bound to tell all her friends, "hey, you know that geeky looking jerk on the fourth floor?, well hes got lots of girlfriends"

Soon you will be having loads of woman trieng to find out what it is about you.

Anyway, excuse me whilst I move on to the next fantasy.

hey, that's actually something that's been scientifically proven to work. I read something a few months back about how girls automatically find a guy more attractive if they see another girl smiling at the guy. Something to do with acceptance from females. Saying you have a girlfriend might reproduce this effect to some degree.

Personally, I'm not looking for a gf so when if I speak to a girl and they mention a bf I'm fairly offended. hartzofspace said it right

I've had the reversal of that, where I am making casual conversation, and suddenly the guy brings up a girlfriend or a wife. It always surprises and confuses me. I have to resist saying, "Did I look like I was attracted or something?"

I mean, is that all lifes about? fecking reproduction? Can't I just talk to someone for the sake of talking? I may as well end it all now, how boring.

Yes, when i was at school, a girl asked me if i had a girlfriend. obviously, not wishing to seem like a fool i said "yes". So she started shagging someone else instead. great idea that was.

As I had found out in the past, I would rather hear a lie about a woman having a boyfriend than have total silence, if she's not interested.

"F**k off" is even better.

Tim

(Imagine a frustrated SCREAM) I had noticed that two feral cats that hang around our community seemed to be missing. I decided to ask the guy who lived in the next house, if he'd seen them. To my relief, he had. The conversation went on a little longer; weather, etc. Then, he did it! Well, MY GIRLFRIEND SAYS...I felt slapped. Why do these people always think that everyone has a hidden agenda? Maybe its an NT thing, to pretend interest in one thing and really be interested in the person. I am fully aware that he has a girlfriend! I see her frequently, and have even spoken to her! UGH!
