I tried but I'm no good at story telling but there is a moral in there somewhere.

I meant that that is a Zen Buddhist story... I was trying to be witty.

Sorry if I jumped on the story. Buddhism is kind of a special interest of mine for the last couple years...

I recently read a collection of early zen stories that included that one.

No, I'd appreciate somebody telling it correctly as I pretty much butchered it up.

Not at all. It is old enough and retold enough that I don't think it can be butchered. :)

I personally read the version in "Zen Flesh Zen Bones" but I found this online that was much more accessible.

Two monks on a pilgrimage came to the ford of a river. There they saw a girl dressed in all her finery, obviously not knowing what to do since the river was high and she did not want to spoil her clothes. Without more ado, one of the monks took her on his back, carried her across and put her down on dry ground on the other side. Then the monks continued on their way. But the other monk after an hour started complaining," Surely it is not right to touch a woman; it is against the commandments to have close contact with women. How could you go against the rules of monks?"The monk who had carried the girl walked along silently, but finally he remarked, "I set her down by the river an hour ago, why are you still carrying her?"

I think I broke the thread. Porn to Buddhist monks... That seems wrong somehow.

No I think it's appropriate.

:D

Now that you mention it I guess it does somehow fit.

That was my first laugh today and I am going to bed soon.

Actually that sounds like an original idea for a porno... I wonder if it has been done yet. Actually I don't think I want to know.
:?

That is definitely the ideal situation: - as a religious man, I have no objections to extremely passionate love within a marriage.

Pornography is exploitation of flesh, just like sports!

It sets unrealistic standards for both men and woman.

And don't forget, the actress you see on the screen, is someone's daughter or sister.

I'm a girl and I don't think there's anything wrong with porn... Because there isn't! My boyfriend looks at porn, I've looked at porn, it's not degrading to women, it's degrading to the slut in the video. What do you think most women would rather have, their boyfriends and husbands on them everyday, or something for them to get off to? I choose the second.

I'm afraid I have to dissent from the majority opinion here. If and when my girlfriend and I get married, I would rather have her demanding sex every night, but at the same time being mentally and physically faithful, rather than her having little interest in me because she is busy gawping at porn all the time. My girlfriend (and maybe later my wife, who knows?) has a right to demand both mental and physical fidelity from me (Matthew 5:27-30). If I marry her, it will be tormenting enough to me that I will inevitably lustfully look at women other than her through weakness, but if I look at other women lustfully through my own deliberate fault (i.e. pornography), I don't know how I will cope with the torment of having deliberately mentally committed adultery.
